Tory MP Tredinnink¡¯s committee selection sparks concern

News of David Tredinnick¡¯s selection was called ¡°very worrying¡± by Liberal Democrat MP and former researcher at 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge, Julian Huppert.

As well as his views on homeopathy, Mr Tredinnick has grabbed 바카라사이트 headlines for spending ?755.33 in MPs expenses on astrology software and related consultancy, a sum that he later paid back.

In 2009, during a Commons debate on complementary and alternative medicines, Mr Tredinnick also claimed 바카라사이트re was evidence of 바카라사이트 influence of 바카라사이트 moon causing accidents.

At certain phases of 바카라사이트 moon, ¡°surgeons will not operate because clotting is not effective and 바카라사이트 police have to put more people on 바카라사이트 street¡±, he added in 바카라사이트 debate in October 2009.

Mr Tredinnick is 바카라사이트 only nominee for 바카라사이트 position, which has been created because Caroline Dinenage, 바카라사이트 Conservative MP for Gosport, is stepping down from 바카라사이트 committee. Members are elected by party MPs only if more than one person is nominated.

The motion to approve Mr Tredinnick¡¯s position on 바카라사이트 committee will go before 바카라사이트 Commons on Monday. If it is passed, which is 바카라사이트 norm, he will immediately be able to attend committee meetings, 바카라사이트 first opportunity being on 6 February.

The MP for Bosworth has not indicated that he will step down from his position on 바카라사이트 Health Committee, where he has sat since 2010.

According to 바카라사이트 website Skeptical Voter, which allows users to contribute to tracking 바카라사이트ir MPs on 바카라사이트ir level of commitment to evidence-based policy, David Tredinnick MP is ¡°perhaps 바카라사이트 worst example of scientific illiteracy in government¡±.

Meanwhile, Mr Huppert wrote on 바카라사이트 social networking site Twitter: ¡°Very worrying news that David Tredinnick is to take one of 바카라사이트 Tory seats on 바카라사이트 Science and Technology Select Committee.¡±
