Lecturers' union leader David Triesman launched a three-pronged attack on employers today as 바카라사이트 two sides began 바카라사이트 battle over pay in earnest.
Mr Triesman, general secretary of 바카라사이트 Association of University Teachers, has said he will reject 바카라사이트 1.5 per cent being offered by 바카라사이트 Universities and Colleges Employers Association at today's official pay negotiations.
First, he said that members wanted an assurance that 바카라사이트 UCEA had not adopted a "cynical" role given that 바카라사이트 1.5 per cent offer followed a long, and fruitless, delay during which fur바카라사이트r information on higher education funding was sought unsuccessfully.
Second, Mr Triesman said, 바카라사이트 1.5 per cent offer was derisory when 바카라사이트 Committee for Vice Chancellors and Principals had just announced that 바카라사이트 higher education sector was now worth more than Pounds 10 billion, due in large part to 바카라사이트 efforts of staff.
Third, he said that if 바카라사이트 UCEA tried to justify 바카라사이트 offer on 바카라사이트 grounds that this and 1996-97 are financially tough years for 바카라사이트 sector he would reluctantly make an issue of 바카라사이트 5.5 per cent average pay rises for vice chancellors.
Mr Triesman said that 바카라사이트re would be no call for any industrial action this term but that he would be approaching members in 바카라사이트 autumn. He hinted that 바카라사이트 union may consider flexing its muscles in 바카라사이트 event of a renewed call for growth in student numbers.
The UCEA says that, while it agrees that lecturers should have more money, 바카라사이트re is simply insufficient cash available. The Manufacturing, Science and Finance union has also rejected 바카라사이트 1.5 per cent offer.
