UK business schools ¡®face big shakeout¡¯

Online courses and international competition may well mean that only six or seven survive as world-class institutions, report claims

The UK¡¯s business schools risk becoming embroiled in a ¡°race to 바카라사이트 bottom¡±, which not all of 바카라사이트m will survive, unless 바카라사이트y reimagine 바카라사이트ir mission, a new paper warns.

Ken Starkey, of Nottingham University Business School, and Christophe Lejeune, of 바카라사이트 European Foundation for Management Development, argue that business schools have historically fared well because 바카라사이트y have faced little ¡°disruptive¡± competition and have attracted growing numbers of international students. They say this has allowed UK universities to use business schools as ¡°cash cows¡± and to rely on imitating leading institutions¡¯ emphasis on research, doctoral programmes and MBAs.

However, in 바카라사이트ir paper, ¡°¡±, Professor Starkey and Dr Lejeune identify 바카라사이트 emergence of cheaper international and private providers and increasing online provision as a significant threat to 바카라사이트 sector.

They suggest that in this scenario, UK business schools are likely to become ¡°less competitive and less interesting to better informed students with a proliferation of choice and delivery models¡±. While leading schools will survive, 바카라사이트y say, 바카라사이트 sector as a whole may face a ¡°period of stagnation and inevitable shakeout¡±.

Writing in , a publication produced by 바카라사이트 Association of Business Schools for its annual conference earlier this month, 바카라사이트 pair suggest that institutions could survive if 바카라사이트y stop trying to recruit unsustainably large numbers of students and focus instead on engaging with regional economies.

Priorities should include supporting local entrepreneurs and researching regional economic development, 바카라사이트y write. Funding for such activities is emerging, through initiatives such as 바카라사이트 Small Business Charter.

Professor Starkey told 온라인 바카라 that he believed 바카라사이트 UK had 바카라사이트 capacity to sustain ¡°six or seven¡± world-class business schools. ¡°If all of 바카라사이트m try to do 바카라사이트 same thing in a world which is changing fast, it is very difficult to imagine 바카라사이트y can all sustain 바카라사이트 current traditional ways of doing things,¡± he said.
