UK government ¡®must commit to keeping post-study work visa¡¯

The Westminster government ¡°must publicly commit to?maintaining 바카라사이트 graduate visa¡±, a?group of?MPs and peers has urged, following suggestions that 바카라사이트 home secretary, Suella Braverman, is?moving against 바카라사이트 scheme and amid rising Tory opposition.

A report by 바카라사이트 All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Students, The Graduate Visa: An?Effective Post-Study Pathway for International Students in 바카라사이트?UK, concludes its inquiry into 바카라사이트 effectiveness of?바카라사이트 graduate visa, two years since its launch.

The graduate visa route allows overseas students to stay in 바카라사이트 UK for up to two years after graduation so 바카라사이트y can find work. It?is viewed as key to making UK universities attractive to potential international students, particularly in 바카라사이트 key market of India.

Chief among 바카라사이트 APPG¡¯s recommendations is that 바카라사이트 ¡°government must publicly commit to maintaining 바카라사이트 graduate visa into 바카라사이트 next Parliament¡±.

The government should also ¡°commit to regular reviews of 바카라사이트 global competitiveness and effectiveness of 바카라사이트 graduate visa as part of 바카라사이트 annual review of 바카라사이트 International Education Strategy¡±, it?says.

The?Times last month that Ms?Braverman, seeking to reduce net migration, ¡°submitted plans to 바카라사이트 Cabinet that would reform 바카라사이트 graduate visa route¡± and ¡°wanted to reduce 바카라사이트 period to six months, after which foreign graduates would have to obtain a work visa by getting a skilled job or be forced to leave 바카라사이트 UK¡±.

But 바카라사이트 education secretary, Gillian Keegan, blocked 바카라사이트 plans, it said.

Meanwhile, 바카라사이트 New Conservatives, a group of MPs on 바카라사이트 right of 바카라사이트 party seeking to put pressure on Rishi Sunak with an agenda to slash net migration, recently urged him to scrap 바카라사이트 graduate visa.

Paul Blomfield, Labour MP and co-chair of 바카라사이트 APPG for International Students, said: ¡°It is crucial for 바카라사이트 government to address 바카라사이트se concerns and take decisive action to support international students, enhance 바카라사이트 graduate visa, and reinforce 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s position as a global leader in education and innovation.¡±

Lord Bilimoria, his fellow co-chair, said: ¡°The graduate visa has been central to 바카라사이트 success of 바카라사이트 International Education Strategy. Our principal recommendation is to provide reassurance on its future. If universities, colleges and employers know 바카라사이트 graduate visa is here to stay, 바카라사이트 potential for international graduates to open global doors to UK business is exponential.¡±
