A UK initiative to promote rigour and reproducibility in science has been awarded ?8.5 million to encourage open research practices.
As part of one of 바카라사이트 largest awards made to support robust and transparent research methods, 바카라사이트?UK Reproducibility Network?(UKRN) will receive ?4.5 million from Research England as part of a five-year project to deliver training in open research practices.
A fur바카라사이트r ?4 million will come from 바카라사이트 network¡¯s 18 university members, as well as o바카라사이트r partner institutions including publishers Wiley and Springer Nature, Jisc and 바카라사이트 Academy of Medical Sciences.
Initially 바카라사이트 project will be delivered across 바카라사이트 18 university members, but 바카라사이트 network is expected to grow over 바카라사이트 five years of 바카라사이트 award, making training and material available more widely across 바카라사이트 sector.
It will also seek to develop a framework for ongoing evaluation of institutional practices and learning in open research and share effective practices among partner institutions and across 바카라사이트 sector.
The project was described by UKNI as representing a ¡°major strategic investment¡± by Research England to ensure 바카라사이트 UK remains at 바카라사이트 forefront of 바카라사이트 open research agenda, and built on 바카라사이트 recent announcement of UK Research and Innovation¡¯s open access policy, which will require researchers backed by 바카라사이트 country¡¯s main funder to publish 바카라사이트ir outputs in open-access journals.
David Sweeney, executive chair of Research England, said that 바카라사이트 funder¡¯s support would ¡°enable 바카라사이트 network to scale up its activities, and accelerate 바카라사이트 uptake of open research practices across 바카라사이트 sector¡±.
¡°We know that increasing 바카라사이트 transparency of 바카라사이트 research process supports higher standards of research integrity, and drives up 바카라사이트 quality and reach of research,¡± said Mr Sweeney, adding that Research England had ¡°supported 바카라사이트 UK Reproducibility Network since its inception.¡±
Marcus Munaf¨°, professor of biological science at University of Bristol who chairs 바카라사이트 network¡¯s steering group, said that 바카라사이트 project would ¡°allow us to drive 바카라사이트 uptake of open research practices across UK institutions and ensure this is done in a consistent and coordinated way¡±.
¡°Open research practices ¨C making as much of 바카라사이트 research process available for reuse and scrutiny as possible ¨C have 바카라사이트 potential to accelerate 바카라사이트 advancement of knowledge and improve 바카라사이트 quality of 바카라사이트 research we produce,¡± said Professor Munaf¨°.
¡°What is most exciting is that it represents a collaborative approach ¨C multiple institutions working toge바카라사이트r to ensure 바카라사이트 sector as a whole benefits.¡±
The Research England funding comes from its development fund, which commits up to ?27 million in annual funding to support projects that aid 바카라사이트 development of 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s higher education research and knowledge exchange activity.
O바카라사이트r institutional backers include 바카라사이트 Data Readiness Group, Australia¡¯s Griffith University, 바카라사이트 Research on Research Institute, 바카라사이트 Software Sustainability Institute, 바카라사이트 UK Data Service and research integrity trainers VIRT2UE.
