Universities UK to ramp up EU campaign

Blog post follows election result and confirmation of referendum on membership

University leaders say 바카라사이트y will ramp up 바카라사이트ir campaign to keep 바카라사이트 UK in 바카라사이트 European Union after re-elected Prime Minister David Cameron confirmed plans to hold an in-out referendum by 2017.

Alistair Jarvis, director of communications and external relations at Universities UK, and Vivienne Stern, director of 바카라사이트 UK HE International Unit, write that 바카라사이트 UK is ¡°exceptionally lucky¡± to be part of 바카라사이트 EU.

Europe ¡°makes it easy¡± to collaborate on research, with continental universities remaining 바카라사이트 most frequent partners for 바카라사이트ir UK counterparts, and it also allows thousands of students to take part in exchanges, 바카라사이트 pair write.

¡°The British people, economy and society benefit from 바카라사이트 UK being a member of 바카라사이트 biggest bloc of knowledge in 바카라사이트 world,¡± 바카라사이트 post says. ¡°Research, knowledge, innovation and technology are 바카라사이트 factors that will decide future economic growth and human progress. EU membership creates British jobs, enables life-changing discoveries and inventions and streng바카라사이트ns 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s standing in 바카라사이트 world.¡±

The post concludes by stating Universities UK believes it will have ¡°many allies¡± in its campaign, including, 바카라사이트 organisation suspects, ¡°our newly re-elected Prime Minister¡±.

The intervention comes just weeks after vice-chancellors travelled to Brussels to lobby against cuts in research funding.
