University builds solar farm in bid to go ¡®energy neutral¡¯

Queensland says A$125 million (?71 million) project ¡®makes a clear and bold statement¡¯

An Australian university has said that it will become 바카라사이트 world¡¯s first major higher education institution to offset 100 per cent of its electricity usage by generating renewable energy itself.

The University of Queensland said that it would build a A$125 million (?71 million) solar farm to allow it to become ¡°energy-neutral¡± by 2020.

Peter H?j, Queensland¡¯s vice-chancellor, said that 바카라사이트 project would ¡°provide research, teaching and engagement opportunities in addition to its environmental and financial benefits¡±.

¡°We are already 바카라사이트 largest solar generator among Australian universities, and this initiative will complement 바카라사이트 50,000 existing solar panels on our campuses,¡± Professor H?j said.

¡°This project makes a clear and bold statement about UQ¡¯s commitment to leadership in renewables and demonstrates that 바카라사이트 UQ is prepared to make a meaningful investment in creating a sustainable future.¡±
