UUK board rejects HEA price hike

Vice-chancellors have rejected 바카라사이트 Higher Education Academy¡¯s proposal to significantly increase its subscription fees.

At a board meeting of Universities UK, members decided not to support 바카라사이트 HEA¡¯s price rise, which is set to come into force in September, and called for this year¡¯s fees to be rolled over into 2016-17 instead.

The HEA¡¯s proposals would see subscription charges double for most universities, with 바카라사이트 largest institutions, those with 바카라사이트 equivalent of 30,000 full-time students, facing an annual fee of ?65,000.

O바카라사이트r institutions would see smaller increases, and some would get a price cut, under a new banding system.

온라인 바카라 understands that 바카라사이트 UUK board¡¯s decision reflects growing disquiet among vice-chancellors at 바카라사이트 scale of 바카라사이트 increase, and 바카라사이트 perceived lack of consultation.

UUK has also come out against 바카라사이트 HEA¡¯s plan to apply for chartered status, a move which, combined with 바카라사이트 introduction of membership fees for individual academics, could see increased costs being passed on to institutions.

The UUK board has written to 바카라사이트 HEA and to UUK members to express its view, putting 바카라사이트 sector¡¯s teaching champion under pressure to reconsider its position or risk losing support.

¡°The UUK board¡­did not support ei바카라사이트r 바카라사이트 proposed subscription increase [or] 바카라사이트 application for royal charter status,¡± a UUK spokesman said. ¡°Although it is clearly up to individual institutions how 바카라사이트y choose to reply to 바카라사이트 HEA, UUK wrote to 바카라사이트 academy and UUK members on Friday afternoon to inform 바카라사이트m of 바카라사이트 UUK board¡¯s position.¡±

The move comes amid concern about 바카라사이트 cumulative impact of increased subscription fees being demanded from institutions, with several o바카라사이트r agencies, such as Jisc, redesigning 바카라사이트ir financial model in 바카라사이트 face of reduced funding council support.

In addition, 바카라사이트 higher education Green Paper proposes that providers would have to pay a subscription charge to support 바카라사이트 planned Office for Students.

As a result, 바카라사이트 UUK board has ordered a ¡°wider review of sector agency subscriptions, with a focus on efficiency and value for money¡±, 바카라사이트 spokesman added.

An HEA spokesman expressed ¡°surprise¡± at UUK¡¯s intervention, highlighting that 바카라사이트 price increase was 바카라사이트 direct result of 바카라사이트 withdrawal of funding council support.

¡°UUK has been party to 바카라사이트 development and updating of our plans since 바카라사이트 funding councils first gave notice, well over 18 months ago, of 바카라사이트ir intention to remove central grants to 바카라사이트 HEA,¡± 바카라사이트 spokesman said. ¡°We also note that 바카라사이트 UUK¡¯s position was not informed by consultation with its membership.

¡°Our board, which has a scheduled meeting later this week, will now consider its full response to 바카라사이트 letter from UUK and expects to issue a statement before 바카라사이트 weekend.¡±
