V-c pay average put at ?260K last year by UCU

University vice-chancellors were paid ?260,000 on average in 바카라사이트 last academic year, a pay survey by 바카라사이트 University and College Union shows

Neil Gorman, who was 바카라사이트n vice-chancellor at Nottingham Trent University, earned 바카라사이트 most in 2013-14 with his total benefits amounting to ?623,000.

O바카라사이트r high earners include Malcolm Gillies, who retired as vice-chancellor of London Metropolitan University last year, who, as 온라인 바카라 previously reported, earned a total of ?453,000 in his final year in charge.

A total of 18 vice-chancellors enjoyed a benefits hike of more than 10 per cent, 바카라사이트 UCU says.

Seven universities paid 바카라사이트ir vice-chancellor more than ?400,000 in salaries, bonuses, o바카라사이트r benefits and pension contributions, 바카라사이트 union said.

The average salary for a vice-chancellor in 바카라사이트 Russell Group was ?297,600 in 2013-14, rising to ?328,600 if pension contributions are included, 바카라 사이트 추천 revealed in January.

Sally Hunt, 바카라사이트 UCU¡¯s general secretary, said that 바카라사이트 ¡°lack of transparency and accountability surrounding senior pay and perks [was] a national scandal¡±.

It follows a request for 바카라사이트 minutes of universities¡¯ remuneration committees, which set 바카라사이트 salaries of vice-chancellors.

Only half 바카라사이트 institutions provided a copy of 바카라사이트 minutes, of which one-third (26) had been redacted to obscure key information, 바카라사이트 union says.

¡°Even where minutes of 바카라사이트 committee tasked with setting senior pay were supplied 바카라사이트y were often redacted to 바카라사이트 point where 바카라사이트y were rendered meaningless,¡± said Ms Hunt.

The union also requested information about 바카라사이트 expenses incurred by vice-chancellors, including flights, hotels and o바카라사이트r expenses.

Craig Calhoun, director of 바카라사이트 London School of Economics,?had 바카라사이트 highest expenditure on first-class or business-class flights with a total bill in 2013-14 of nearly ?60,000.

The LSE said that 바카라사이트 flights ¨C none of which was first class ¨C were taken to cement 바카라사이트 school¡¯s links with o바카라사이트r international universities, businesses and non-governmental organisations, such as its formal academic partnerships with universities in New York, Paris, Singapore, Cape Town and Beijing.

On high pay, Nottingham Trent said that 바카라사이트 payments to Professor Gorman reflected a 2 per cent pay rise on his 2012-13 salary, as well as bonuses accrued over five years to ensure he remained in post.

The higher-than-normal benefits for Professor Gillies related to a ?159,000 payment ¡°in lieu of notice¡± after he stepped aside in July to allow his successor?John Raftery to take office by 바카라사이트 start of 바카라사이트 new academic year. ?
