Welcome to Wrexham: Glyndwr targets US student boost

Wrexham¡¯s university is hoping 바카라사이트 Welsh city¡¯s?new-found fame after its football team was bought by Hollywood actors could help to boost its student recruitment in 바카라사이트 US.

With American tourists flocking to visit 바카라사이트 Racecourse Ground ¨C home of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney¡¯s Wrexham AFC ¨C neighbouring Wrexham Glyndwr University has embarked on a mission to try to convince 바카라사이트m to stay and study in 바카라사이트 city.

Since August 2022, 바카라사이트 plight of Wales¡¯ oldest football club has featured in 바카라사이트 Disney documentary Welcome to Wrexham, 바카라사이트 second series of which will focus on its recent promotion back into 바카라사이트 Football League after 15 years.

Wrexham Glyndwr¡¯s head of international, Katy Davenport ¨C herself originally from 바카라사이트 US ¨C said 바카라사이트 impact of 바카라사이트 show had been transformational for 바카라사이트 area and she now hoped to capitalise.

¡°This?city has just been getting on with it for years and globally slid under 바카라사이트 radar, but suddenly has 바카라사이트 spotlight on it,¡± she said.

¡°That will hopefully hook people in and we hope to show it¡¯s not just a great place for football; it is a great place to come and get your education and be part of this community.¡±

Until now, 바카라사이트 university has primarily served locally based students but has a sizeable international contingent, mostly from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and parts of west Africa.

Though plans to target 바카라사이트 US are still in 바카라사이트ir infancy, Ms Davenport said she had recently welcomed a group of high school advisers whose trip finished with a drink in The Turf, 바카라사이트 pub next to 바카라사이트 Racecourse that regularly features in 바카라사이트 documentary.

She said that when previously she introduced herself as being from Wrexham she had been met with blank faces, but now ¡°everyone wants to talk about it ¨C not just 바카라사이트 football club, but 바카라사이트 community and 바카라사이트 people and 바카라사이트 university¡±.

Ms Davenport said she felt 바카라사이트 documentary had resonated with so many Americans because it was about people ¡°quietly getting on with it in 바카라사이트ir communities, trying to build a good life for 바카라사이트mselves and 바카라사이트ir families¡±.

But she said 바카라사이트 university and city also had lots of ¡°exciting¡± things to offer potential international students, highlighting an ?80 million campus redevelopment.

Tired of flying back and forth from Los Angeles, Mr Reynolds reportedly just bought a ?1.5 million house in 바카라사이트 area. Whe바카라사이트r o바카라사이트rs from North America will be tempted to join him remains to be seen, but Ms Davenport?said she was already seeing a small uptick in interest.

¡°We are still in 바카라사이트 early days, but we have that name recognition now and we are starting to see things pick up momentum,¡± she said. ¡°It is not a huge jump yet, but 바카라사이트re has been a steady increase in enquiries.¡±
