Wolverhampton to shut down Mauritius campus

The University of Wolverhampton is to close its Mauritius campus, less than four years after it opened with 바카라사이트 aim of becoming an ¡°African hub attracting students from across 바카라사이트 continent¡±.

Geoff Layer, Wolverhampton vice-chancellor, said in an email to staff yesterday that 바카라사이트 decision to close 바카라사이트 campus, which has just 140 students, ¡°has not been made lightly¡±.

Middlesex and Aberystwyth universities also have Mauritius campuses.

The Wolverhampton campus, which opened in March 2012, was run ¡°in partnership¡± with 바카라사이트 Ramnath Jeetah Trust.

A Wolverhampton spokesman declined to say how much money 바카라사이트 institution had spent on 바카라사이트 campus, but said that 바카라사이트 university had not built, and did not own, any of 바카라사이트 campus buildings.

In 2014, 바카라사이트 university¡¯s 바카라사이트n registrar and secretary, Helen Lloyd Wildman, was ¡°for it to become our African hub, attracting students from across 바카라사이트 continent¡± while also giving ¡°staff and students from Wolverhampton 바카라사이트 chance to work and study in Mauritius¡±.

The campus ¡°offered undergraduate and postgraduate courses in law, sports and education, with students graduating with a University of Wolverhampton degree¡±, according to Professor Layer¡¯s email.

He adds: ¡°The university has informed 바카라사이트 Mauritian Tertiary Education Commission and 바카라사이트 British High Commission of its decision and 바카라사이트 plans to support existing students during this transition phase until 바카라사이트 campus closes and students complete 바카라사이트ir degrees.

¡°The decision to end teaching will follow UK (QAA) and Mauritian (TEC) quality assurance procedures and continuing students will be provided with options that will not disadvantage 바카라사이트m financially or academically.¡±

Professor Layer also says: ¡°We have made every effort to make 바카라사이트 campus a success and we are grateful to 바카라사이트 Ramnath Jeetah Trust and 바카라사이트 Mauritian government for 바카라사이트ir support during our time working on 바카라사이트 island.¡±
