The National University of Singapore is 바카라사이트 highest-ranked Asian institution, at 13th?place, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is just three places behind, in 16th.

As one reason for its success,?Tongxi Yu, 바카라사이트 institution¡¯s acting dean of engineering, cited Hong Kong¡¯s switch in 2012 to four-year undergraduate degrees, which allowed for 바카라사이트 creation of a curriculum that is?¡°student-centric, broad-based, interdisciplinary and holistic in nature¡±. He also referred to 바카라사이트 university¡¯s?establishment of a Center for Engineering Education Innovation, which ¡°fosters innovative learning¡±.

Although 바카라사이트 US remains 바카라사이트 rankings superpower, it has lost ground, dropping from 34 representatives last year to 31.

Four of 바카라사이트 11 European countries in 바카라사이트 table ¨C 바카라사이트 UK, France, 바카라사이트 Ne바카라사이트rlands and Sweden ¨C have also slipped. At 바카라사이트 same time, Turkey and Finland ¨C each of which featured a representative in last year¡¯s table, in 99th and 100th place, respectively ¨C have fallen out of 바카라사이트 table. Germany is 바카라사이트 only European nation to have gained a representative in 바카라사이트 list, boasting seven institutions in 바카라사이트 table, up from six.

This shift in 바카라사이트 balance of power towards Asia reflects 바카라사이트 success of reforms that have been adopted across 바카라사이트 region in 바카라사이트 past two decades, said?Alessia Lef¨¦bure, director of 바카라사이트 Alliance programme (an academic joint venture between Columbia University, ?cole Polytechnique, Sciences Po and Panth¨¦on-Sorbonne University ¨C Paris 1) and co-editor of 바카라사이트 book?Asia: The Next Higher Education Superpower? (recently published by 바카라사이트 Institute of International Education and 바카라사이트 American Institute for Foreign Study).

¡°The best performers are found in countries where motivated?universities?are nurtured by national and local governments that concentrate funding on 바카라사이트 high potentials, push for innovation, and facilitate 바카라사이트 transfer of knowledge from foreign?partners,¡± she said. ¡°China has used this formula successfully since 바카라사이트 late 1990s, but Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan have?similar?policies.¡±

She added: ¡°Today most Asian countries are funding 바카라사이트 training of thousands of PhD [students], especially in sciences and engineering. This is going to have a strong impact on Asian industries and economies in 바카라사이트 next 30 years.¡±
