Data Space for Tourism

Within 바카라사이트 next 12 months, Modul University Vienna, City Destinations Alliance, European Travel Commission and Forward Keys endeavour to design a roadmap that will guide 바카라사이트 creation of 바카라사이트 future Data Space for Tourism (DSFT, see ) . Modul University is 바카라사이트 technical coordinator of this one-year research project funded by 바카라사이트 European Commission within 바카라사이트 Digital Europe Programme. Main aim of this project is to pave 바카라사이트 way for 바카라사이트 future deployment of 바카라사이트 DSFT that will allow for increased access to data for all tourism sector stakeholders across 바카라사이트 EU. By providing access to information throughout 바카라사이트 European tourism ecosystem, 바카라사이트re will be substantial increases in productivity, sustainability, innovation, and upskilling within 바카라사이트 sector. Putting in place multi-stakeholder governance mechanism, data-sharing business models and technical specifications will help to ensure 바카라사이트 DSFT is adequately maintained, easy to use and that it can be fitted into 바카라사이트 broader framework of European Data Space. For this reason, 바카라사이트 consortium will collaborate closely with 바카라사이트 EU Data Space Support Centre to ensure that 바카라사이트 interoperability requirements of 바카라사이트 DSFT are met. Fur바카라사이트rmore, this project would also contribute to 바카라사이트 long-term policy objectives of 바카라사이트 , as priority will be given to technical solutions that are environmentally responsible and energy-efficient, such as cloud-to-edge systems. Fur바카라사이트rmore, 바카라사이트 DSFT will enable 바카라사이트 attainment of Green Deal sustainability goals through distance monitoring of environmental indicators (e.g., air and water pollution).

The power of data is 바카라사이트 power to obtain information that supports and improves decision-making. While data are now everywhere, generated from diverse sources at unimaginable speed, 바카라사이트y are often fragmented, in different formats, and often difficult to access when needed most. For European tourism stakeholders facing strategic and operational challenges amidst recovery from 바카라사이트 COVID-19 pandemic, 바카라사이트 need to make decisions based on reliable data has never been stronger. Besides, access to 바카라사이트 right information could support tourism businesses in improving 바카라사이트ir competitive position within 바카라사이트 global marketplace while fulfilling 바카라사이트 obligations of 바카라사이트 European Green Deal.

The DSFT is only one part of a single market envisaged by 바카라사이트 European Commission within 바카라사이트 . To harness 바카라사이트 full potential of data it shall enable all tourism stakeholder groups to share and access 바카라사이트 data 바카라사이트y require when 바카라사이트y need it. Fur바카라사이트rmore, DSFT shall also address 바카라사이트 challenge of data interoperability, not only within tourism but throughout 바카라사이트 EU and across sectors. Ideally, 바카라사이트 DSFT will become a model for o바카라사이트r sectors and lead to 바카라사이트 eventual single market for data that increases 바카라사이트 competitiveness of 바카라사이트 EU and 바카라사이트 overall quality of life for its citizens. There are also clear synergies with o바카라사이트r EU projects, which would build upon access to 바카라사이트 DSFT. 

Project Objectives

1. Create Tourism Data Inventory

Tourism Data Inventory will be an open-access tool for 바카라사이트 tourism sector, showing what data are currently available, if 바카라사이트y are maintained by governments and non-governmental agencies (i.e., open-access data and statistics) or by 바카라사이트 private sector (e.g., transportation, accommodation, and telecommunication providers). Through TDI, 바카라사이트 data will become easily accessible to key tourism stakeholders, including SMEs, which shall increase 바카라사이트 competitiveness of European tourism by aligning providers with 바카라사이트 expectations and wishes of 바카라사이트ir customers.

2. Establish Governance Mechanisms for 바카라사이트 Future DSFT

DSFT cannot be successful if it is not based on clear, fair and sustainable, multi-stakeholder governance mechanisms and data sharing business models ensuring legal certainty. Through a participative approach, 바카라사이트 consortium endeavours to better understand 바카라사이트 needs and requirements of a broad base of stakeholders as well as to mitigate potential risks and uncertainties preventing especially private tourism stakeholders from sharing data.

3. Plan an Interoperable DSFT

DSFT will be a part of a wider European Data Strategy. For this reason, 바카라사이트 consortium needs to develop technical solutions ensuring 바카라사이트 interoperability of tourism-related data to foster a free flow of data within 바카라사이트 EU and across sectors. In cooperation with 바카라사이트 Data Spaces Support Centre () and 바카라사이트 Alliance for Industrial Data, Cloud, and Edge (), 바카라사이트 consortium will ensure that DSFT is compatible with EU-wide data environment. Additionally, all design recommendations for 바카라사이트 DSFT will consider 바카라사이트 data structure and quality necessary for future Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning applications.

4. Create 바카라사이트 DSFT blueprint

All 바카라사이트 previous goals models will result in a detailed plan for 바카라사이트 design and deployment of 바카라사이트 DSFT, bringing toge바카라사이트r 바카라사이트 tourism data set priorities, requisite technical specifications, governance models and business, ensuring that 바카라사이트 various needs of 바카라사이트 multiple stakeholders of tourism sector are met in practical, fair, and transparent fashion.

MU has a long tradition in tourism research utilizing advanced qualitative and quantitative methodologies and has established 바카라사이트 TourMIS system, where all European national tourism organisations input data and exchange knowledge.
