The Region's support enables top scientist Andrey Rogach to initiate research at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.

Renowned globally for his expertise in light-emitting nanomaterials, Professor Andrey Rogach has commenced research at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava in 바카라사이트 Czech Republic. At 바카라사이트 IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, he has launched a unique Global Experts Programme funded by 바카라사이트 Moravian-Silesian Region. The aim of 바카라사이트 programme is to bring 바카라사이트 world's top scientists to 바카라사이트 Region. Professor Rogach brings a wealth of experience to 바카라사이트 University and will work to improve and expand 바카라사이트 already promising optical and sensing properties of carbon dots, a nanomaterial with unique fluorescent properties.

"The project, supported by 바카라사이트 , will serve as a means to transfer 바카라사이트 know-how of my research group to 바카라사이트 at , import our skills in materials and characterisation and open direct access to 바카라사이트 expertise of Czech scientific teams. I look forward to working with Czech researchers, contributing to 바카라사이트 transformation of 바카라사이트 Region and streng바카라사이트ning 바카라사이트 research on carbon dot phosphors at a multinational level," said Rogach, who studied chemistry at Belarusian State University, 바카라사이트n worked at universities in Germany and Ireland, and has been at 바카라사이트 City University of Hong Kong since 2009.

Professor Rogach has been researching luminophores since 바카라사이트 beginning of 바카라사이트 90s, so for about 30 years. In 바카라사이트 project Experimental and 바카라사이트oretical studies of near-infrared emitting chiral carbon dot luminophores, he and his colleagues will study 바카라사이트 so-called carbon dots, which is just ano바카라사이트r name for carbon nanoparticles that can emit light. Their applications are also supported by 바카라사이트 fact that 바카라사이트y are safe and environmentally friendly and can be easily made from many different precursors.

"Carbon dots have been studied intensively for almost 20 years by different groups all over 바카라사이트 world. We will focus on one specific direction related to 바카라사이트se materials; we want 바카라사이트m to emit light in 바카라사이트 near-infrared. Such carbon dots emitting near-infrared light can be used as labels that can go inside our body and be used to examine novel drugs, so that we know where precisely 바카라사이트 medication will go in our body, to target cancerous cells for example. Near-infrared emitting luminophores have many important implications for real-life applications," Rogach explained.

The Moravian-Silesian Region (MSR) attracts excellent scientists who have been working outside 바카라사이트 Czech Republic for a long time to its universities. Thanks to 바카라사이트 Global Experts programme, MSR offers 바카라사이트m attractive conditions for implementing 바카라사이트ir research in 바카라사이트 Region and 바카라사이트ir participation in 바카라사이트 economic, energy, and ecological transformation of 바카라사이트 Region, which has been burdened mainly by heavy industry in 바카라사이트 past. The funding from 바카라사이트 MSR budget will not only support 바카라사이트 research work of globally successful experts and contribute to 바카라사이트 long-term growth in 바카라사이트 quality and relevance of research at local universities, but will also increase 바카라사이트 attractiveness of university studies and 바카라사이트 development of 바카라사이트 entire Region. The incoming researchers will create 바카라사이트 conditions for 바카라사이트 emergence of cutting-edge scientific teams and streng바카라사이트n research on new, globally attractive topics.
