The Security team is uniquely placed to advise, support, and defend &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; University against security threats.

About &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Role

You will take a leading role in securing &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Secure Data Research Environment, providing specialist expertise in information and cyber security to protect sensitive research data and ensure compliance with security standards. You will work closely with colleagues across &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; University to monitor and analyse security systems, respond to incidents, address vulnerabilities, and implement security measures.

You will also be responsible for supporting &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; University’s preparation for and maintenance of cyber security accreditations, including Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO/IEC 27001.

The role is currently remote with future flexible options.

The interviews are expected to be held in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; week commencing &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; 14th?July.?

What you’ll do

· Work with colleagues from &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; University to Lead efforts for &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Secure Data Research Environments Cyber Security accreditations (e.g., Cyber Essentials/Plus, ISO/IEC 27001), coordinating audits, managing documentation, and implementing remedial actions.

· Provide support in maintaining security operations by managing and updating security policies and procedures, conducting vulnerability assessments, and implementing security patches and updates.

· Oversee remediation of risks from security scans and tests, ensuring alignment with risk appetite before production. Conduct risk assessments for on-premise and cloud-hosted solutions, identifying control gaps and residual risks using frameworks (e.g., CIS Top 18, NIST Cyber Security Framework, ISO 27001).

· Lead on efforts relating to &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Secure Data Research Environments Cyber Security accreditations, including Cyber Essentials/Plus and ISO/IEC 27001.

· Provide expert guidance on policies, standards, industry regulations, and best practices. Offer consultation on Secure by Design principles and information assurance. Develop IA strategies, policies, and awareness programs.

· Identify, analyse, and evaluate information risks across various projects and systems. Communicate &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; causes, likelihood, and impacts of information risks to stakeholders.

· Maintain awareness of evolving cyber security and regulatory landscapes to inform risk management and governance.

What you’ll bring:

· Experience of information and cyber security within a large organisation.

· Knowledge of current information and cyber security issues and opportunities, including knowledge of security frameworks.

· Experience of with security tooling, particularly within a mixed Windows, Linux, Mac and Cloud environment.

· The ability to present your ideas and your specialist area, to a wide and potentially non-technical audience.

· The integrity required to work with both commercially sensitive and personally identifiable information.

Residential Services at &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; University of Southampton offer accommodation to over 6000 students. To enhance and maintain &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; service offered to our diverse customers, we are recruiting for 2 Domestic Assistants position in Southampton.

The role will involve working individually or as a member of a team to deliver &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; cleaning of designated areas to ensure that &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;y are kept in a safe, clean and hygienic condition. Some of &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; duties will include kitchen cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming and dusting. You should also be willing to undertake some manual handling, bending and reaching as part of your normal duties.

The successful candidate will have a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work and enjoy working as part of a diverse and dynamic team. ?Communication skills and attention to detail is essential as this is a customer focused environment where we strive to provide &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; best service to our residents.

The post available is for 36 hours per week Monday to Friday, on a salary of ?23,653 per annum. Some weekend working will be required in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; summer for open days, student arrivals and departure periods.

The University currently provides a non-contractual supplement to roles at this level to bring &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;m in line with &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Living Wage rate. As a Research Assistant, you will support cutting-edge projects in urban science, computational social science, and usability research. You’ll work closely with our team of Principal Investigators (PIs) to design and implement data-driven systems, conduct advanced analyses, and promote sustainable and equitable urban living through digital tools such as CITIESair and &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; CITIES Dashboard. You’ll also play a key role in community outreach, engaging with stakeholders across academia, public institutions, and local communities.

	Enhance and expand CITIES Digital Initiatives (CITIESair and CITIES Dashboard)
	Build user interfaces and web/mobile applications for academic research

What We’re Looking For

Required:


	Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
	Strong programming skills in web and mobile development (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, React)
	Experience with Internet-of-Things (IoT), especially air quality sensor networks
	Data analysis and visualization skills (Python, R, Google Charts, etc.)
	Familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative research methods
	Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills


Preferred:


	Training in smart cities or software-enabled sustainability
	Knowledge of WordPress and experience managing student assistants
	Background in community-focused research or civic tech
