We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join our 23-month project evaluating &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; 'Making Every Contact Count' (MECC) programme in Bolton. This programme aims to improve health and wellbeing outcomes through brief, opportunistic conversations on healthy lifestyle choices, delivered by Local Authority, health, and social care staff. The project is guided by &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; RE-AIM framework to assess &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and maintenance of MECC across diverse community settings. This project is funded by &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; School for Public Health Research through &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

The Research Fellow will play a crucial role in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; evaluation of &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; MECC programme, focusing on its implementation, reach, effectiveness, and fidelity. This role will involve a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative and qualitative data collection, fidelity assessment, and economic modelling.

The Research Fellow will work closely with project partners (i.e. Bolton City Council Public Health Team and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust), health and social care professionals, and community stakeholders to generate actionable insights that inform future practice.

This role is fixed-term, full time, for 23 months and will start in June 2025.

The applicant will be guided and supported by Dr Angela Rodrigues (Associate Professor, Northumbria University) in a team consisting of?Bolton City Council Public Health Team and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust partners, academic colleagues from Sheffield University, University of Oxford, University of Greater Manchester and?Lancaster University. This also includes patient and public involvement.

You will be embedded in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;?MECC research group?at Northumbria University. The group brings toge&#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;r interdisciplinary experts from both academia and practice in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; fields of Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Business, and Health and Social Care across Nor&#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;rn England with &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; shared aim of advancing &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; evidence base for MECC. The group, led by Dr Angela Rodrigues, has strong links with?Fuse?and &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;?ARC NENC?and works with fellow academics at &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; o&#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;r North East Universities along with relevant stakeholders from &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; NHS and Local Authorities including &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; regional MECC strategy group.

You will be formally based in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Department of Psychology, within &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University, City Campus.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; role you will have:


	Excellent qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills, and experience in mixed-methods research, including survey design, qualitative interviewing, and data triangulation.
	Strong understanding of intervention development and evaluation frameworks, particularly RE-AIM, and behavioural science tools (e.g. Behaviour Change Techniques (BCTs); Theoretical Domains Framework), and knowledge of &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Making Every Contact Count (MECC) approach, including its principles, implementation strategies, and evaluation within health and social care settings is desirable.


Ability to?travel for purpose of data collection to various locations in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; UK is essential.

You will hold a PhD, have submitted your PhD or be about to submit your PhD in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; next two months, or have equivalent experience, in in Public Health, Behavioural Science, Health Psychology, or a related field.

As a Research Assistant, you will support cutting-edge projects in urban science, computational social science, and usability research. You’ll work closely with our team of Principal Investigators (PIs) to design and implement data-driven systems, conduct advanced analyses, and promote sustainable and equitable urban living through digital tools such as CITIESair and &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; CITIES Dashboard. Our research agenda is driven by a shared commitment to advance &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; field of management and organisational studies and shape high-performing, truly inclusive, and future-ready workplaces. Specifically, we seek to challenge current management thinking and propel tech-driven, evidence-based practices through four major streams of research:


	Organisational Behaviours - We examine &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; psychological and social dynamics that shape behaviour within organisations. Our research explores areas such as leadership and followership, ethics, emotions, personality and individual differences, humour in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; workplace, feedback, cognitive processes, and &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; role of play at work. We investigate how &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;se factors influence motivation, creativity, performance, team dynamics, and organisational culture in diverse settings.
	IDEA Issues - Our research advances Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) agenda across a range of organisational and societal context on topics such as migrant experience, human rights in business, cross-cultural management, and intersectionality of social identities. Our work also addresses issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, individuals from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, and o&#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;r structurally marginalised or underrepresented communities.
	Social Impact - We generate positive social impacts through research that informs responsible policy and practice in areas related to work, employment, and societal wellbeing. Our research addresses issues such as workplace health and safety, sustainable business practices, corporate social responsibility (CSR), public health and care management, labour markets, and trade unions. We also explore emerging &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;mes such as regenerative futures and just transitions in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; context of energy and environmental change, with a focus on enhancing social equity and long-term sustainability.
	Technology for Humanity - Focusing on &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; human side of technology, we explore how tech-enabled innovations can be effectively managed to improve work, learning, wellbeing at &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; individual, team, and organisational levels. Our research spans areas such as &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; human-AI interface, gamification in organisational settings, digital transformation in higher education, and technology adoption in organisations.


Members of &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Department aim to promote research excellence and develop higher level academic credential and unique identity in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; focal field through high quality publications and to advance research capability and skills, forge and promote internal and external research collaborations.

The Department of Management & Organisations is part of &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; School of Management which sits within &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; College of Business and Law.
