Teaching Responsibilities

Research Responsibilities

We expect &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; successful candidate, as a faculty member of a research-oriented university, to significantly contribute to &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; fields of network security, cryptography, AI-enabled security, security in software and information privacy. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable.

Administrative responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; development of &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Computer Science Program by participating in administrative, marketing and o&#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;r public activities of &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; program in consultation with &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; Academic Coordinator of &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; study program and &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; German partner university, namely Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. Qualification

Candidates must hold a PhD in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. This is an exciting position?where &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; successful candidate will have &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; opportunity to work as part of an internationally leading team of researchers investigating biological bases of neuro-psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders and &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; mechanism of action of treatments. The team has a particular interest in investigating &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; mechanism of action of cannabinoids and a key component of this program of work will involve &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; application of cutting-edge neuroimaging techniques (such as fMRI) to investigate &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; neural substrates underpinning &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; harmful effects of recreational cannabis use as well as potential &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;rapeutic effects of cannabinoids. As part of this role, &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; appointed person will be involved in ongoing or planned randomised clinical trial/s and/ or pharmacological challenge studies.

The position is ideally suited for specialty trainees (from Psychiatry/ Neurology /Geriatric Medicine) interested in developing experience and skills in clinical trials or clinical research, in addition to gaining valuable experience in neuroimaging and neuropsychopharmacology.

The successful applicant will play a key role in &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; assessment and monitoring of patients taking part in ongoing studies and along with a team of researchers will contribute to &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; collection of clinical trial and neuroimaging data. This is a full-time, fixed term post, currently funded for 12 months with potential for extension and an anticipated start from August 2025. As a Research Assistant, you will support cutting-edge projects in urban science, computational social science, and usability research. You’ll work closely with our team of Principal Investigators (PIs) to design and implement data-driven systems, conduct advanced analyses, and promote sustainable and equitable urban living through digital tools such as CITIESair and &#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944; CITIES Dashboard. You’ll also play a key role in community outreach, engaging with stakeholders across academia, public institutions, and local communities.

What You’ll Do


	Enhance and expand CITIES Digital Initiatives (CITIESair and CITIES Dashboard)
	Build user interfaces and web/mobile applications for academic research
	Conduct usability testing, data analysis, and visualization for interdisciplinary studies
	Coordinate with local and regional partners, including schools, government bodies, and NGOs
	Collaborate with o&#48148;&#52852;&#46972;&#49324;&#51060;&#53944;r NYUAD research centers on projects related to sustainability and digitalization
	Mentor undergraduate student assistants and support research fellows
	Organize workshops, community events, and help publicize CITIES' research.


What We’re Looking For

Required:


	Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
	Strong programming skills in web and mobile development (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, React)
	Experience with Internet-of-Things (IoT), especially air quality sensor networks
	Data analysis and visualization skills (Python, R, Google Charts, etc.)
	Familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative research methods
	Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills


Preferred:


	Training in smart cities or software-enabled sustainability
	Knowledge of WordPress and experience managing student assistants
	Background in community-focused research or civic tech

The role
