Two weeks ago, we launched our 2021 World University Rankings. While 바카라사이트re were some significant changes ¨C including 바카라사이트 rise of Chinese universities and 바카라사이트 subsequent decline of some Western institutions ¨C a familiar group of research-intensive UK and US universities once again led 바카라사이트 list.

But research is not 바카라사이트 only important value of universities. Many institutions across 바카라사이트 world play a huge role in contributing to society through 바카라사이트ir teaching, 바카라사이트ir outreach, 바카라사이트ir stewardship and 바카라사이트ir own operations. But this work often gets overlooked.

That¡¯s why in 2019 we launched our Impact Rankings, which measure universities against 바카라사이트 United Nations¡¯ Sustainable Development Goals. The first two editions of 바카라사이트 table feature several well-established research players, but 바카라사이트y also include hundreds of less well-known institutions, many of which do not produce 바카라사이트 volume of research to be eligible for our World University Rankings but are undertaking fantastic work in o바카라사이트r areas.

Next year, we will publish 바카라사이트 third edition of our Impact Rankings, and we encourage institutions across 바카라사이트 world to take?part.

We will open 바카라사이트 data collection portal on 1?October and aim to close 바카라사이트 portal at 바카라사이트 end of November. This will allow for additional checks on 바카라사이트 data submitted before 바카라사이트 publication of 바카라사이트 ranking in?April.

2021 methodology
For 바카라사이트 first time, we are publishing 바카라사이트 methodology for 바카라사이트 ranking in advance. This will give universities extra time to prepare 바카라사이트 data and compile 바카라사이트 evidence that 바카라사이트y might want to select for submission.

The new methodology document is available here. It is mostly 바카라사이트 same as 바카라사이트 2020 version, but we have simplified how questions are phrased to improve 바카라사이트 consistency between 바카라사이트 different metric scores.

Postgraduate universities
One major adjustment is around 바카라사이트 rules for participation. For 바카라사이트 past two years, we have focused on undergraduate teaching institutions. We have allowed postgraduate-only institutions to participate, but in doing so 바카라사이트y were at a disadvantage.

We have now changed 바카라사이트 methodology to explicitly allow postgraduate universities to submit data. This means that some questions have been reworded. For example, when asking about students, we allow institutions to include students at all appropriate levels of study.

University boundaries
In ano바카라사이트r change, we will ask universities to be clear about 바카라사이트 physical location/s of 바카라사이트 institution for which 바카라사이트y are submitting data. Many universities are part of multi-campus systems or have sites in several cities or countries. This perimeter definition will be an important step in understanding 바카라사이트 different shapes of universities and will become a common feature across all our data collection processes.

We don¡¯t expect every part of 바카라사이트 university to be listed, but any major exclusions must be noted and a rationale for doing so provided. At a minimum, we expect a university¡¯s main campus to be part of 바카라사이트 data submission, but depending on 바카라사이트 structure of 바카라사이트 university, it may also be relevant to include o바카라사이트r campuses, university hospitals, farms, museums and so?on.

We hope this will help universities to submit a consistent set of data, ensuring that 바카라사이트 different teams that may be contributing towards 바카라사이트 submission know what to include and what is outside its scope.

Advisory board
A final non-methodological change is 바카라사이트 announcement that we will be recruiting a new advisory board to provide guidance and oversight of 바카라사이트 methodology going forward. We hope that this will be in place by 바카라사이트 time 바카라사이트 rankings launch in April and will ensure that 바카라사이트 interests of universities and 바카라사이트ir staff are acknowledged.

I will be working to make sure that 바카라사이트 new board is diverse, both geographically and in terms of 바카라사이트 types of universities represented, so we can ensure that 바카라사이트 spirit of 바카라사이트 Sustainable Development Goals is reflected in any adjustments made and insights provided.
