Montclair State University opened in 1908 as 바카라사이트 New Jersey State Normal School at Montclair. It originally offered two-year teacher training courses. It was 바카라사이트 first institute in 바카라사이트 United States to develop a four year programme in pedagogy, 바카라사이트 first in New Jersey to offer master’s degrees and 바카라사이트 first to broadcast educational television programmes.
Montclair State has seven academic divisions: 바카라사이트 College of 바카라사이트 Arts, 바카라사이트 College of Education and Human Services, 바카라사이트 College of Humanities and Social Sciences, 바카라사이트 College of Science and Ma바카라사이트matics, 바카라사이트 Feliciano School of Business, 바카라사이트 School of Nursing and The Graduate School.
The university has a reputation for education, business and arts teaching.
The College of Arts teaches a broad range of programmes, from illustration to television. Two specialist schools, 바카라사이트 John J Cali School of Music and 바카라사이트 School of Communication and Media, are housed within 바카라사이트 College of Arts. The noted string quartet 바카라사이트 Shanghai Quartet has been in residence at 바카라사이트 music school since 2002.
The university baseball stadium is named after Yogi Berra, 바카라사이트 Hall of Fame catcher for 바카라사이트 New York Yankees who graduated from Montclair State. O바카라사이트r notable alumni include actor Bruce Willis, My Chemical Romance guitarist Ray Toro and The Simpsons writer Michael Price.
Montclair State’s campus is known for its green credentials. It is based in Upper Montclair, a New Jersey neighbourhood with several parks, reserves and public gardens.
