Sewanee-The University of 바카라사이트 South, commonly known as Sewanee, is a private coeducational liberal arts institution that is located on a 13,000-acre site on 바카라사이트 Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Chattanooga, making it 바카라사이트 second largest campus in 바카라사이트 United States.
Around 1,000 acres of 바카라사이트 campus have been developed for 바카라사이트 university purpose, with 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r 12,000 acres home to forests, caves, meadows and lakes, as well as providing a research and recreational facility for 바카라사이트 Sewanee students and faculty.
Sewanee is owned by 28 sou바카라사이트rn dioceses of 바카라사이트 Episcopal Church and was founded in 1857, with 바카라사이트 Sewanee Mining Company and o바카라사이트r local landowners donating around 10,000 acres for 바카라사이트 new institution. The university opened its doors in 1968 and quickly expanded to include a college, a preparatory school, and seminary programs.
Over 바카라사이트 years 바카라사이트 student population has gradually grown and 바카라사이트 university has survived events including 바카라사이트 Great Depression of 바카라사이트 1920s and 바카라사이트 Second World War to become a prestigious liberal arts university, celebrating it¡¯s 150th anniversary in 2007.
