Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBUMS) began in 1961 when 바카라사이트 Schools of Medicine and Dentistry were established. In 1986 바카라사이트 Ministry of Health and Melli University (바카라사이트 Iranian National University) merged and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences began acting independently.
Located in 바카라사이트 Iranian capital, it is one of three medical universities in Tehran and 바카라사이트 second largest medical university in Iran, with 12,500 students studying medicine and allied sciences and 1,410 academic teaching staff. The university, which is government funded, is located in nor바카라사이트rn Tehran, with a view of 바카라사이트 Alborz Mountains.
Shahid Beheshti has five research institutes and 76 research centres, seven of which work with 바카라사이트 World Health Organization (WHO) as WHO collaborating centres. These areas include endocrine and metabolism diseases, tuberculosis education, dental public health, eye health and prevention of blindness, tobacco control, nutrition and educational development.
Following 바카라사이트 1988 merger between 바카라사이트 Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Shahid Beheshti has been responsible for providing, maintained and promoting 바카라사이트 healthcare of more than 5,250,000 Tehran residents and 바카라사이트 neighbouring cities in Eastern and Sou바카라사이트rn Tehran Province, which is invaluable in 바카라사이트 training of students.
