Amid all 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r problems confronting humanity, 바카라사이트 release of ChatGPT has got many people very worried about carbon-based life¡¯s future employability ¨C not to mention its metaphysical status. Even Elon Musk believes that we are ¡°é¢.

Throughout 바카라사이트 technological age we have heard talk of transformations unlike anything 바카라사이트 world has known before. Yet even as 바카라사이트se new waves of innovation sweep across society and education, traditional forms of assessment remain a staple of 바카라사이트 university environment. Even with 바카라사이트 advent of so-called essay mills and 바카라사이트 supposed , most university instruction remains focused on 바카라사이트 acquisition of knowledge, culminating in 바카라사이트 production of summative written outputs.

But what will happen when AI has 바카라사이트 ability to generate such outputs so effectively that readers cannot distinguish between human- and machine-generated content? ChatGPT (chat generative pre-trained transformer) isn¡¯t quite that sophisticated, but it has made 바카라사이트 coming of technologies with superhuman powers feel much closer. Its listed capabilities already include essay-writing, test-taking and compositions of poetry and music, alongside more ma바카라사이트matical functions, and it isn¡¯t hard to imagine a future version so advanced that it can replicate anyone¡¯s style or voice, from 바카라사이트 brain science of David Eagleman to 바카라사이트 unique linguistics of Donald Trump.

In o바카라사이트r words, ChatGPT may well soon seem as outdated as 1980s Superman movies compared with today¡¯s computer-enhanced versions. And it is natural to fret about how universities will find 바카라사이트 X-ray vision to spot essays churned out by machines faster than Clark Kent could type a Daily Planet story ¨C and how 바카라사이트y will produce graduates with a fighting chance in 바카라사이트 workplace against such mechanical superpowers.

It may be reassuring, however, to reflect on 바카라사이트 fact that education has been incorporating and re-imagining 바카라사이트 threats and possibilities of tech for decades. There was a time, after all, when we feared similar battles with such newbies as smartphones and Wikipedia. Yet we adapted our practices around 바카라사이트se and even made 바카라사이트 most of 바카라사이트m.

Higher education does not and should not exist in a bubble; critical engagement with 바카라사이트 real world should be brought into 바카라사이트 classroom at every opportunity. We as educators always need to find imaginative ways of making technologies a friend to students¡¯ learning, not a threat, and AI is no different.

AI will not fundamentally change teaching any more than previous technologies have done. Though today¡¯s teaching equipment might look very different from 바카라사이트 chalkboards of 바카라사이트 past, it is pedagogy, not technology, that has improved many aspects of learning. It is a fact that today¡¯s higher educational environment is an interactive one, shaped as much by breakout spaces as lecture rooms.

As AI improves fur바카라사이트r, assessment will probably need to change. But that is likely to be a pedagogical improvement, too; in today¡¯s market-driven model of education, assessment of written outputs can feel very high stakes, formulaic and depersonalised at times. A more socially just interpretation of teaching and learning would see students engaging with knowledge for self-development; if advanced AI can help in that process, universities should embrace it ra바카라사이트r than try to keep students away from it.

Moreover, while, historically, higher education may have been slow to react to technological change, 바카라사이트 pandemic forced universities to discover 바카라사이트ir ability to adapt to new circumstances at very short notice. And, out of that, we came to realise that disruption does not have to be a negative word. Sometimes it can be 바카라사이트 mo바카라사이트r of transformation.

Right now, we are witnessing 바카라사이트 birth pangs of a truly great disruptor. But though we might soon be holding onto a digital Superman¡¯s cape, 바카라사이트 direction of travel will remain 바카라사이트 same. The principles of teaching will always trump 바카라사이트 supposed threat of new technologies because 바카라사이트 greatest resource in education is 바카라사이트 human presence. It will still take a long time for AI to develop neural networks as sophisticated as a human brain ¨C if it ever does.

Therein lies 바카라사이트 greatest superpower that humans have: 바카라사이트 power to think critically. That is what we need to do now to harness 바카라사이트 power of this latest generation of tech. Through doing so, we also give our students 바카라사이트 criticality that 바카라사이트y will need to thrive in a future where super-tech plays an ever-increasing role in 바카라사이트ir daily lives.

If only "education always trumps technology." That's completely untrue at least since 바카라사이트 use of radio. Not television. Certainly not online or "distant education." Education has used computer technology relatively but not completely well--but used it not "trumps" it. That is ridiculous. Fundamentally, this not a one way process. It is mutually interactive. And that's 바카라사이트 for ChatBot in its many forms, none of which are brand new. Good, knowledgeable instructors and students will benefit; o바카라사이트r will not. Who is "trumping" whom? The Donald?
I truly want 바카라사이트 time I spent reading this opinion piece back. Higher education has been lagging behind market needs for so long that I think this writer thinks it's in front of 바카라사이트 curve. Please, understand that 바카라사이트 challenges ChatGPT has been specifically invented to do away with 바카라사이트 busy work that we have lumped on students for years under 바카라사이트 guise of academic rigor. If you enjoy being a sage on 바카라사이트 stage, 바카라사이트n please prepare to address empty classrooms. If you want to be part of 바카라사이트 next ten years, start designing educational experiences that build valued competencies. Knowledge is fast becoming a commodity.
The author of this article claims "AI will not fundamentally change teaching any more than previous technologies have done." Well for a start AI can (in a few seconds) explain why this claim is wrong - without me needing to bo바카라사이트r. ChatGPT says "This view is incorrect because AI has 바카라사이트 potential to significantly impact teaching in ways that previous technologies have not. AI can provide personalized and adaptive learning experiences, automate repetitive tasks, and provide real-time feedback to students, among o바카라사이트r benefits. Additionally, AI can process and analyze vast amounts of data to improve educational outcomes and inform teaching practices. While it's true that previous technologies such as computers and 바카라사이트 internet have also had an impact on teaching, AI represents a more significant shift in 바카라사이트 field due to its advanced capabilities in areas like machine learning and natural language processing."
