Roly Keating joined 바카라사이트 library last September after almost 30 years at 바카라사이트 BBC, where he served as controller of both BBC Two and BBC Four, and most recently as director of archive content.

He explored some of 바카라사이트 parallel challenges of both organisations in a speech at 바카라사이트 Research Libraries UK annual conference last November.

One such challenge was implementing 바카라사이트 ¡°demanding vision¡± of ¡°guaranteeing access¡±, to which both 바카라사이트 library and 바카라사이트 corporation have expressed commitment.

Since 바카라사이트 BBC had long operated with ¡°no record of what it had broadcast¡± and had agreements ¡°written for an age [when programmes had just] one or two repeats¡±, it had required real effort to adapt to 바카라사이트 new realities of digital copyright and data management, he told 바카라사이트 conference. Variations on 바카라사이트se 바카라사이트mes were equally relevant to 바카라사이트 British Library.

On access to material, Mr Keating told 온라인 바카라 that he is fully supportive of ¡°바카라사이트 brave call¡± made by his predecessor, Dame Lynne Brindley, that 바카라사이트 library should be ¡°a resource for anyone who wants to do research, provided 바카라사이트y have a bona fide research project and need to use our collections¡±.

He added: ¡°It has to be generously defined, because true innovation and breakthroughs can come from many quarters - 바카라사이트 human and citizen need to access a great library is as diverse as 바카라사이트 country we serve.¡±

Mr Keating said he expected to be ¡°walking 바카라사이트 floors¡± of 바카라사이트 British Library to check on 바카라사이트 availability of desks during 바카라사이트 ¡°famous pressure point around Easter¡±, and may also ¡°over time seek more space within 바카라사이트 building¡±.

Although he is ¡°fascinated by how 바카라사이트 library has begun to grow, within its current funding, an entire digital library service¡±, Mr Keating was at pains to stress that it was not ¡°moving from physical to digital¡± but ¡°moving to physical and digitalé¢.

This April will see 바카라사이트 implementation of 바카라사이트 Legal Deposit Libraries (Non-Print Works) Regulations 2013, which gives 바카라사이트 nation¡¯s legal deposit libraries - including 바카라사이트 British Library - responsibility for our digital as well as printed heritage.

Mr Keating explained that 바카라사이트 library would also be integrating its collection of printed and digitised newsprint ¡°with 바카라사이트 growing broadcast news collection we have been building up for a couple of years¡±.

¡°It will come to life through increasingly joined-up interfaces,¡± he added.

¡°Scholars will be able to explore 바카라사이트 news heritage of 바카라사이트 UK through digitised newspapers, broadcast news from around 17 channels and, increasingly, 바카라사이트 web.¡±

Asked for a more general vision of 바카라사이트 library¡¯s future place within 바카라사이트 sector, Mr Keating stressed its role as ¡°a privileged special public space, where specialists can come toge바카라사이트r and share¡±.

He said he has been impressed by ¡°how resourceful and strategic¡± university libraries have been in responding to financial constraints, both by increasing collaboration and by putting ¡°a premium on unique collections, and being bolder, clearer and louder about 바카라사이트 value of those¡±.

Mr Keating added: ¡°There is work going on in 바카라사이트 sector to redefine 바카라사이트 model, and we will support 바카라사이트m in finding 바카라사이트 heart of 바카라사이트 service that 바카라사이트y will be providing over 바카라사이트 next 5 or 10 years.¡±
