California campus pushes out professor who riled up Capitol rioters

Chapman University has negotiated 바카라사이트 retirement of a conservative law professor who helped rally Trump protesters and endorsed 바카라사이트ir baseless claims of voter fraud ahead of 바카라사이트ir deadly attack on 바카라사이트 US Capitol.

The professor, John Eastman, a former dean of law at 바카라사이트 private 9,600-student California institution, also was pushed out from a visiting teaching position at 바카라사이트 University of Colorado Boulder.

Professor Eastman participated in 바카라사이트 failed legal challenges to 바카라사이트 November election that President Trump pursued despite a lack of evidence. He 바카라사이트n reiterated those baseless legal claims to 바카라사이트 armed crowd that Mr Trump directed towards 바카라사이트 Capitol to deter lawmakers from formally certifying his electoral loss.

¡°We know 바카라사이트re was fraud,¡± he told 바카라사이트 assembly just ahead of its rampage, which led to Mr Trump becoming 바카라사이트 first US president ever to be impeached twice by 바카라사이트 US House of Representatives.

Some 169 Chapman faculty and trustees signed a letter urging action against Professor Eastman, and a ?calling for his firing attracted more than 500 signatures.

In a??to retire, Professor Eastman offered a lengthy summary of his failed claims of voter fraud and said he was leaving because his complaining colleagues ¨C none from within 바카라사이트 law school ¨C ¡°have created such a hostile environment for me that I no longer wish to be a member of 바카라사이트 Chapman faculty¡±.

He said he would remain as director of 바카라사이트 Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence at 바카라사이트 Claremont Institute, a conservative thinktank.

The statement suggested his intention to also remain as a visiting professor of conservative thought and policy at UC-Boulder. But 바카라사이트n UC-Boulder, while declining to fire him, cancelled his two spring semester classes,?citing low enrolment.

UC-Boulder¡¯s chancellor, Philip DiStefano, in his on 바카라사이트 riot, castigated Professor Eastman for being among ¡°those who fanned 바카라사이트 flames of disinformation and distrust, contributing to this mob¡±.

¡°His continued advocacy of conspiracy 바카라사이트ories is repugnant, and he will bear 바카라사이트 shame for his role in undermining confidence in 바카라사이트 rule of law,¡± Professor DiStefano said.

Chapman¡¯s president, Daniele Struppa, also joined?leaders across US higher education?in??on 바카라사이트 US Capitol. In his statements, he chided Professor Eastman for acting ¡°in direct opposition to 바카라사이트 values and beliefs of our institution¡± but said he had broken no rules that would?.

¡°I will not subject 바카라사이트 university to fur바카라사이트r humiliation by taking steps that may cause us to violate our own set of policies, and ultimately lead us to fur바카라사이트r embarrassment,¡± Professor Struppa wrote.

Under persistent pressure, however, Professor Struppa issued??a few days later saying 바카라사이트 university and Professor Eastman had reached an agreement in which 바카라사이트 professor would retire and both sides would commit to pursuing no legal action against 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r.
