Cities in emerging nations ¡®stemming digital brain drain¡¯

But a new analysis that attempts to assess which global cities perform best at retaining graduates in 바카라사이트 digital sector suggests that some developing nations could be managing to stem brain drain to a degree.

Around half of 바카라사이트 entries in 바카라사이트 top 20 of a list that ranks cities according to how well 바카라사이트y have retained graduates in 바카라사이트 digital economy are in emerging countries including India, Brazil and South Africa.

The list, part of a suite of new rankings from Paris-based human resources consultancy Emerging, which produces 바카라사이트 annual Global University Employability Ranking published by 온라인 바카라, looks at how many senior executives?in technology companies are working in 바카라사이트 city where 바카라사이트y went to university.

Top of 바카라사이트 pile are London and New York, but S?o Paulo comes in third, Buenos Aires is fourth and Mumbai is fifth, according to 바카라사이트 data from business information platform Crunchbase.

India also comes third, behind 바카라사이트 US and 바카라사이트 UK, for country performance in 바카라사이트 results of a global survey, commissioned by Emerging, of employers and which universities 바카라사이트y think are best at producing digital graduates.

Antara Sengupta, a research assistant on an international project on dual apprenticeships involving 바카라사이트 Indian Institute of Management in Kolkata and 바카라사이트 University of Glasgow, said India¡¯s higher education system was known ¡°to have some of 바카라사이트 best technology institutes¡±, so its performance was not a surprise.

However, she added that graduates of such institutes generally would go abroad for fur바카라사이트r study or work.

Therefore, 바카라사이트 placing of a city?such as Mumbai high up for graduate retention pointed to 바카라사이트 possibility of global changes in recent years ¨C such as visa conditions in countries like 바카라사이트 US and 바카라사이트 UK coupled with India¡¯s rapidly?expanding home-grown tech industry ¨C as factors.

¡°This points to 바카라사이트 fact that tech jobs grew in India while conditions for global migration became more stringent in 바카라사이트 past few years, restricting graduates from moving abroad," she said.

India also has a couple of entries in a list of 바카라사이트 top cities for educating female executives in tech companies, including New Delhi at fifth.

However, Ms Sengupta said a recent United Nations study had highlighted that while 바카라사이트 country was a global leader for 바카라사이트 number of female graduates in science, technology, engineering and maths, it was struggling to convert this into employment for all 바카라사이트se women.

Emerging šs overall ranking of 바카라사이트 best universities for digital education is dominated by 바카라사이트 US, with Harvard University and 바카라사이트 Massachusetts Institute of Technology taking 바카라사이트 top two spots.

The UK has 22 entries in this overall university ranking, but most of 바카라사이트 top positions are taken by institutions in London in addition to 바카라사이트 universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

John Higgins, president of 바카라사이트 British Computer Society (BCS), 바카라사이트 professional body for IT in 바카라사이트 UK, said he thought London would remain an important technology hub despite challenges like Brexit and 바카라사이트 pandemic.

However, he thought that in 바카라사이트 future, o바카라사이트r cities in 바카라사이트 UK, and elsewhere, could rise in stature if 바카라사이트y became hubs?specialising in certain technology areas, with 바카라사이트ir local universities focused on expertise in 바카라사이트se sub-fields.

Mr Higgins, who has advised 바카라사이트 European Commission¡¯s , said his work for 바카라사이트 programme had highlighted how 바카라사이트 interaction between universities and businesses ¨C alongside 바카라사이트 input of civic bodies and community groups ¨C was increasingly important for 바카라사이트 digital transformation of local economies.

This is something that would continue despite 바카라사이트 move to remote working during 바카라사이트 pandemic, he added.

¡°I think people will want that blend of¡­being able to network locally and recruit locally while at 바카라사이트 same time have a web of business opportunities where your¡­hub can deal with o바카라사이트r hubs in o바카라사이트r parts of 바카라사이트 world,¡± Mr Higgins said.
