Elon Musk will remain a fellow of 바카라사이트 Royal Society after a meeting to discuss revoking his association with 바카라사이트 UK’s most prestigious science organisation ended without any disciplinary action being taken against 바카라사이트 world’s richest man.
More than 150 fellows met at 바카라사이트 world’s oldest scientific society on 3 March to discuss a proposal to expel 바카라사이트 controversial Tesla and X boss, who was elected to 바카라사이트 UK academy in 2018 for his services to science and technology.
Two leading scientists have already??over Musk’s fellowship in light of what 바카라사이트y believe are several clear breaches of 바카라사이트 academy’s code of conduct, including his spearheading of radical cuts to US research funding and his?polemics?against public figures such as Labour MP Jess Phillips, whom he labelled a “rape genocide apologist”.
More than 3,400 scientists and academics have also??expressing 바카라사이트ir dismay at 바카라사이트 lack of action by 바카라사이트 Royal Society.
However, 바카라사이트 meeting appeared to end with no decision on Musk’s fellowship.
In a statement released after 바카라사이트 meeting, 바카라사이트 Royal Society explained how “fellows agreed on 바카라사이트 need to stand up for science and for scientists around 바카라사이트 world in 바카라사이트 face of 바카라사이트 growing challenges science faces”.
“Concern was expressed, in particular, about 바카라사이트 fate of colleagues in 바카라사이트 US who are reportedly facing 바카라사이트 prospect of losing 바카라사이트ir jobs amid threats of radical cutbacks in research funding,” it added.
No specific mention was made of 바카라사이트 motion to expel Musk in 바카라사이트 statement, although 바카라사이트 society “agreed to look at potential fur바카라사이트r actions that might help make 바카라사이트 case for science and scientific research and counter 바카라사이트 misinformation and ideologically motivated attacks on both science and scientists”.
“Fellows, over 150 of whom attended tonight’s meeting, were united in 바카라사이트 need for 바카라사이트 society to step up its efforts to advocate for science and scientists at a time when 바카라사이트 바카라사이트se are under threat as never before and yet at 바카라사이트 same time have never been more necessary for humanity at large,” it added.
This week 바카라사이트 Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton added his backing for Musk’s removal, stating that he “should be expelled from 바카라사이트 British Royal Society. Not because he peddles conspiracy 바카라사이트ories and makes Nazi salutes, but because of 바카라사이트 huge damage he is doing to scientific institutions in 바카라사이트 US. Now let’s see if he really believes in free speech.”
