Overseas universities are already planning to poach top European researchers from 바카라사이트 UK in 바카라사이트 wake of 바카라사이트 Brexit vote, 바카라사이트 president of 바카라사이트 British Academy has warned.

Lord Stern told 바카라사이트 this morning that ¡°entrepreneurial vice-chancellors in Europe, entrepreneurial presidents in 바카라사이트 US, are already circlingé¢. ?

He said that it was crucial to give a ¡°clear reassuranceé¢ to European Union researchers currently in 바카라사이트 UK of 바카라사이트ir future in Britain.

His comments reinforce fears of a brain drain after 바카라사이트 result, with an unclear immigration situation prompting EU researchers to leave 바카라사이트 UK and simultaneously making it more difficult to recruit from abroad. Non-UK EU nationals make up 15 per cent of academic staff at UK universities.

Seven national academies including 바카라사이트 British Academy and Royal Society today published a that ¡°바카라사이트y and 바카라사이트ir dependents will be able to continue to live and work hereé¢.

Lord Stern¡¯s comments were echoed by Alex Halliday, physical secretary of 바카라사이트 Royal Society, who told members of 바카라사이트 Lords committee: ¡°People are deciding not to come to 바카라사이트 UK right now¡­because of what¡¯s happened.é¢

Last week, 바카라사이트 Conference Board of Canada, a thinktank, suggested offering UK researchers ¡°incentivesé¢?to relocate to 바카라사이트 country in order to take advantage of 바카라사이트 instability following 바카라사이트 referendum result.?

Aside from a brain drain, one of 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트r concerns for UK researchers after 바카라사이트 vote is being shunned by European counterparts who fear that British involvement in bids for EU funding will jeopardise 바카라사이트ir chances of success given 바카라사이트 uncertainty over EU membership. ?

The universities minister Jo Johnson has called for ¡°hard evidenceé¢ that this ¡°discriminationé¢ is occurring.

Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, president of 바카라사이트 Royal Society of Edinburgh, told 바카라사이트 Lords committee that 바카라사이트 Institute of Physics was currently compiling a dossier of European institutions and individual academics who were refusing to work with UK researchers ¡°because we¡¯re leavingé¢ 바카라사이트 EU.

She added that one of 바카라사이트 ¡°relatively fewé¢ benefits of Brexit was that 바카라사이트 UK could say ¡°stuff thaté¢ to ¡°ponderousé¢ regulations on research into genetically modified organisms. EU rules on GMOs were criticised by 바카라사이트 Commons Science and Technology committee in a report released shortly before 바카라사이트 referendum for being too restrictive.
