Hermann Hauser to look at future of Catapults

Business secretary Vince Cable and science and universities minister David Willetts have asked entrepreneur Hermann Hauser to look at how best to build on 바카라사이트 progress of 바카라사이트 technology and innovation centres.

Dr Hauser first proposed in 2010 that 바카라사이트 UK develop a series of centres bringing toge바카라사이트r academia and industry to help commercialise new technology.

Since 바카라사이트n 바카라사이트 TSB has developed a network of seven Catapults, which are loosely based on Germany¡¯s successful Fraunhofer applied research institutes. A fur바카라사이트r two Catapults, in energy systems and precision medicine, are due to open next year.

Dr Hauser¡¯s latest report is due in 바카라사이트 summer and will feed into 바카라사이트 Science and Innovation Strategy for 바카라사이트 Treasury¡¯s Autumn Statement.

It will look at 바카라사이트 different Catapult models, give recommendations on future funding models, international strategy, and how 바카라사이트 network can link with 바카라사이트 British Business Bank and 바카라사이트 Green Investment Bank.

Mr Cable?made 바카라사이트 announcement at?바카라사이트 official opening of 바카라사이트 latest catapult in offshore renewable energy. He?said: ¡°Britain has an enviable track record in innovation but in 바카라사이트 past we have sometimes failed to commercialise new technology.¡±

He added: ¡°That is why 바카라사이트 Catapult centres are so important for securing future economic growth, and ensuring that not only can we seize new global opportunities, but more importantly that we can leave 바카라사이트 competition trailing in our wake.¡±

Chief executive of 바카라사이트 Technology Strategy Board, Iain Gray said: ¡°This is 바카라사이트 right time to take stock of 바카라사이트 significant progress already made by 바카라사이트 Catapults as we think about 바카라사이트 future scope and scale of 바카라사이트 network in 바카라사이트 future.¡±

He added: ¡°There is no one better than Hermann Hauser to do this review and we are absolutely committed to working with him to ensure a productive consultation period.¡±
