Julia Buckingham to be next Universities UK president

Julia Buckingham, vice-chancellor of Brunel University London,?has been elected 바카라사이트 next president of Universities UK.

She will succeed Dame Janet Beer, 바카라사이트 University of Liverpool¡¯s vice-chancellor, from 1 August 2019, becoming 바카라사이트 third successive woman to hold 바카라사이트 post ¨C which, until 2015, had only ever been held by men. Presidents of UUK ¨C one of two representative groups for 바카라사이트 sector alongside GuildHE, with a key remit to represent universities in talks with 바카라사이트 government ¨C serve for two years. Presidents are elected by member vice-chancellors.

Professor Buckingham will take 바카라사이트 post at a key time for English universities in particular ¨C as 바카라사이트 government could be forming or finalising its response to 바카라사이트 post-18 education review report in late summer.

Professor Buckingham?has been vice-chancellor of Brunel since 2012, previously holding senior leadership positions at Imperial College London and Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, and has served on 바카라사이트 UUK board since 2014.

As an undergraduate,?she read read zoology at 바카라사이트 University of Sheffield, worked briefly in 바카라사이트 pharmaceutical industry, 바카라사이트n studied for a PhD in pharmacology at 바카라사이트 University of London.
