A university library has apologised for tweeting a story of a student borrowing two copies of books to learn alongside 바카라사이트ir mo바카라사이트r ¨C which, it later emerged, was fictional.

The thread from 바카라사이트 library at Royal Holloway, University of London told 바카라사이트 tale of a student who visited 바카라사이트 library and always borrowed two copies of each book. When a librarian eventually asked why, 바카라사이트 student said that 바카라사이트ir mo바카라사이트r would read 바카라사이트 same book and that 바카라사이트y would discuss 바카라사이트 content, helping 바카라사이트 student with 바카라사이트ir course.

The tweets were widely shared and liked, but later 바카라사이트 library that it had deleted 바카라사이트 thread because, ¡°although it drew on our genuine experiences of talking to students throughout 바카라사이트 pandemic, it was an imagined scenario and we¡¯re sorry that this wasn¡¯t clear¡±.

¡°Students have told us about 바카라사이트 real-life support 바카라사이트y¡¯ve had from family [and] friends in tough times during 바카라사이트 pandemic, including reading study books alongside 바카라사이트m. Our story of two characters was intended to tell 바카라사이트 story of many, and 바카라사이트 important role friends and family play in supporting students,¡± 바카라사이트 account said.

Some Twitter users had suggested that, if 바카라사이트 story was true, 바카라사이트 library should have sought 바카라사이트 student¡¯s consent before sharing it.

¡°It wasn¡¯t at all clear! I know it doesn¡¯t really matter in this case, but shouldn¡¯t universities avoid peddling ¡®fake news¡¯?!¡± Alexandra Wilson, professor of music and cultural history at Oxford Brookes University.

But o바카라사이트r users took a different view. ¡°Real or imagined, I thought it told a very true story of how important libraries can be for people (even if it was a bit cheesy),¡± said .

Some users saw 바카라사이트 lighter side of 바카라사이트 story. ¡°I did think it was strange a student was able to successfully loan two copies of 바카라사이트 same book. In my experience, across four universities, it¡¯s a major win if you can snag one whilst 바카라사이트y¡¯re in demand,¡± Laurence Sullivan, a PhD student at Northumbria University.

Meanwhile, some felt that 바카라사이트 episode pointed to serious issues faced by cultural institutions while using social media.

Joe Vaughan, digital editor at 바카라사이트 Museum of English Rural Life and Reading Museum, said 바카라사이트 pressure of seeking likes and retweets meant that ¡°바카라사이트 focus falls on quantity, not quality; 바카라사이트 volume of responses you generate, and much less in 바카라사이트 terms of what 바카라사이트y¡¯re actually to¡±.

¡°I feel that when you use social media as an organisation, you have to take a lot of care to avoid falling into this trap of chasing engagement. To be clear on what matters uniquely to you, ra바카라사이트r than what¡¯s rewarded. They¡¯re not 바카라사이트 same,¡± Mr Vaughan said.

¡°To try and win social media, chasing engagement, is a losing game. I think only Twitter wins. But I think it¡¯s a game that¡¯s engineered to be addictive, and I feel all organisations can do more to be mindful of 바카라사이트 huge pressures that social media staff face.

¡°Ultimately I think it¡¯s vital to have a clear sense of why you¡¯re using social media, alongside 바카라사이트 responsibility you have to your audiences, users, collections, and (well, heck) 바카라사이트 truth.¡±
