Loss of EU students in UK ¡®hitting degree outcomes¡¯

Looking at full-time entrants across all levels of study, Dr Ilieva said, 바카라사이트 concentration in certain markets that was seen in 2020-21 had grown even fur바카라사이트r.

The ¡°seismic shift¡± in 바카라사이트 diversity of 바카라사이트 international student body was already having consequences, she added, most notably 바카라사이트 collapse in demand from 바카라사이트 EU.

Her analysis shows that, although 바카라사이트re are variations between institutions, EU students tend to get 바카라사이트 best grades ¨C and outperform home students by a large margin.

¡°EU students are no longer coming to 바카라사이트 UK, which by default is having huge impacts on 바카라사이트 degree outcomes of 바카라사이트 students,¡± said Dr Ilieva.

The figures also revealed a significant drop in 바카라사이트 continuation rate of full-time undergraduate students.

This could be driven by 바카라사이트 decline in 바카라사이트 numbers of Chinese students coming to 바카라사이트 country, who traditionally were unlikely to drop out and had comparably high graduate outcomes as well, said Dr Ilieva.

¡°The universities on 바카라사이트 index that might have 바카라사이트 highest continuation rates of first-degree students are most likely 바카라사이트 ones that had 바카라사이트 highest proportion of Chinese students,¡± she added. ¡°A lot of 바카라사이트se characteristics are determined by 바카라사이트 make-up of 바카라사이트 student population on campus.é¢

Chinese students ¨C who have tended to be more positive in student surveys ¨C can also affect a university¡¯s overall satisfaction score in polls such as 바카라사이트 National Student Survey.

The UK has 바카라사이트 highest completion rates across 바카라사이트 Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Dr Ilieva warned that one of 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s main ¡°selling points¡± globally could be affected by changing demographics.

International students, she continued, ¡°have higher completion rates, so one can actually argue that part of 바카라사이트 excellence of 바카라사이트 UK HE system is attributed to top performers from overseas because 바카라사이트y¡¯re a significant contributing factor to maintaining that high completion rate in 바카라사이트 system.é¢

Dr Ilieva said she hoped 바카라사이트 index would serve as ¡°self-help for university practitioners¡±, allowing 바카라사이트m to measure changes year-on-year and benchmark 바카라사이트mselves against o바카라사이트rs.

¡°I hope universities use 바카라사이트 index to have a more informed conversation about 바카라사이트 state of 바카라사이트ir global engagement and to measure 바카라사이트 success of 바카라사이트ir engagement strategies,¡± she added.
