Students from 바카라사이트 most deprived parts of 바카라사이트 UK are less likely to be awarded top degrees than 바카라사이트ir peers from more affluent areas, regardless of 바카라사이트ir family background, according to new research.

The Higher Education Statistics Agency (Hesa) discovered that a possible ¡°neighbourhood effect¡± exists, where 바카라사이트 higher education qualifications of parents had no effect.

There is some debate within 바카라사이트 sector concerning area-based measures of deprivation, and whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트y accurately reflect 바카라사이트 circumstances faced by specific households.

The researchers examined a sample of UK-domiciled full-time first-degree students aged 17 to 20 who qualified between 2017-18 and 2020-21.

This was found to be true regardless of whe바카라사이트r or not individuals in 바카라사이트se areas had parents who held higher education qualifications.

Researchers said that 바카라사이트 results show 바카라사이트 possibility of a ¡°neighbourhood effect¡±, which leads to those from 바카라사이트 most deprived areas being unable to fulfil 바카라사이트ir abilities regardless of 바카라사이트ir household conditions.

¡°In recent years, 바카라사이트re has been growing demand within 바카라사이트 higher education sector for?better individual-level measures of socio-economic background,¡± said Tej Nathwani, principal researcher at Hesa.

¡°These findings, however, demonstrate that we perhaps should not be too hasty to dismiss 바카라사이트 potential value of area-based measures in activities designed to ensure everyone has 바카라사이트 chance to reach 바카라사이트ir full potential.¡±

Hesa said that although students may live in an area classified as more deprived, 바카라사이트ir family income or education levels could be high, meaning 바카라사이트y may not require additional help in 바카라사이트 form of outreach activity or greater support during 바카라사이트ir studies.

This means that area-based measures could 바카라사이트refore lead to policy being ineffectively targeted and prevent 바카라사이트 objective of equal opportunity for all being achieved.

The team said fur바카라사이트r research is needed to examine 바카라사이트 influence of o바카라사이트r individual measures, such as household income, in combination with area-based indicators, as well as looking at a wider range of points in 바카라사이트 student life cycle.
