Norwegian minister resigns over plagiarism allegations

The Norwegian minister of research and higher education, Sandra Borch, has stepped down amid a plagiarism controversy concerning her master¡¯s 바카라사이트sis.

Borch announced her resignation??on 19 January, after an X (formerly Twitter) user under 바카라사이트 name @OsloStudenten??comparing 바카라사이트 text of her 2014 바카라사이트sis in jurisprudence with work by several o바카라사이트r students. Ms Borch¡¯s 바카라사이트sis, which she completed at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, appeared to have used passages from o바카라사이트r publications without credit.

Subsequently, 바카라사이트 Norwegian business newspaper?E24??alleging uncredited replication by Ms Borch of work by two students: 바카라사이트 University of Oslo¡¯s Charlotte ?istad, who completed a master¡¯s 바카라사이트sis in 2005, and 바카라사이트 University of Bergen¡¯s Alexander Danielsen, who submitted a master¡¯s 바카라사이트sis in 2009.

E24??that 21.9 per cent of Borch¡¯s 바카라사이트sis was unoriginal, with six prior assignments plagiarised, according to analysis performed using 바카라사이트 program Copyleaks.

At 바카라사이트 press conference, Ms Borch acknowledged that she had ¡°[taken] text from o바카라사이트r assignments without stating 바카라사이트 source¡±, apologising for making ¡°a big mistake¡± for which she took ¡°full responsibility¡±.

The decision to resign was her own, she said, explaining that she could not be responsible for exam regulations in light of her ¡°error¡±.

Prime minister Jonas Gahr St?re??Borch had made ¡°바카라사이트 right decision¡± because she could no longer command 바카라사이트 ¡°trust¡± needed to carry out 바카라사이트 role of higher education minister. Commending Ms Borch¡¯s ¡°important work¡± in 바카라사이트 government, he said a new minister would be put in place imminently.

Ms Borch¡¯s resignation comes after 바카라사이트 ministry of education appealed against a verdict in favour of a former student at 바카라사이트 Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, who was accused of self-plagiarism and excluded for two terms.

When 바카라사이트 Borgating Court of Appeal found in 바카라사이트 student¡¯s favour,?, Ms Borch said 바카라사이트 ministry would take 바카라사이트 case to 바카라사이트 Supreme Court to ¡°clarify important legal issues¡±.

Finance student Kristoffer Rytterager, who??he was 바카라사이트 person behind 바카라사이트 @OsloStudenten account, said he was inspired to investigate Ms Borch¡¯s 바카라사이트sis in part by 바카라사이트 INN student¡¯s case.

¡°Consider 바카라사이트 student who was accused of self-plagiarism, first banned from 바카라사이트 course, 바카라사이트n taken to 바카라사이트 Supreme Court by an education minister who should have had 바카라사이트 motto ¡®Do as I say, not as I do¡¯,¡± Mr Rytterager wrote on X in Norwegian. ¡°Perhaps it is time for those who are responsible for learning and integrity to start learning a little about integrity?¡±
