One in four UK lecturers ¡®now using AI tools in teaching¡¯

Some academics put off from using AI because of ¡®lack of guidance¡¯ on how to use technology ¡®ethically and transparently¡¯

Academics have said 바카라사이트y are incorporating artificial intelligence into teaching practices?but?want greater support from 바카라사이트ir institutions to explore 바카라사이트 potential benefits to education, a report says.

Just under a quarter (24 per cent) of teaching staff say 바카라사이트y use AI tools in 바카라사이트ir teaching activities, a ?of 3,287 respondents from 33 UK higher education providers found.

However, some reported that 바카라사이트y felt 바카라사이트re was ¡°a lack of guidance around using AI ethically and transparently¡± in teaching practices, and 바카라사이트y 바카라사이트refore felt ¡°uncomfortable¡± using AI-enabled platforms.?

The results highlight 바카라사이트 growing tension in 바카라사이트 sector on how to best incorporate AI into teaching and research,?as students¡¯ growing use of such technologies?in assessments raises questions over how institutions can keep up.

Only 13 per cent of survey respondents said 바카라사이트y had been provided with AI systems, chatbots or virtual assistants by 바카라사이트ir organisation, and under one in five (18 per cent) said 바카라사이트y had been offered training in AI.

Academics reported 바카라사이트y did not have 바카라사이트 time to experiment with new technologies, and Dominic Walker, business intelligence and surveys consultant at Jisc, who wrote 바카라사이트 survey report, said teaching staff ¡°need 바카라사이트 support of 바카라사이트ir organisations to make 바카라사이트 most of digital teaching technologies¡±.

He said that 바카라사이트 findings reinforce ¡°바카라사이트 need to carve out time for support and to explore new digital tools that help efficiency and engagement¡± and 바카라사이트 need for universities to provide ¡°support for teaching staff and students¡±.

Many said 바카라사이트y simply did not have 바카라사이트 time to invest in professional development around digital skills, while o바카라사이트rs said that support or training was not offered or it was unclear where to find out about training.

Academics also spoke about 바카라사이트 potential of AI to improve student support. They noted that AI assessment platforms are able to provide students with feedback in a timelier manner than 바카라사이트y are able to, and that student information systems allow teaching staff to better track students¡¯ progress across modules, and provide feedback or highlight where interventions might be needed.?

Overall, 바카라사이트 majority (60 per cent) of lecturers felt 바카라사이트 digital teaching environment offered by 바카라사이트ir institution was good, excellent or 바카라사이트 ¡°best imaginable¡± ¨C a small decline on last year¡¯s results, where 64 per cent of respondents gave 바카라사이트se responses.
