Online English-taught degrees double outside ¡®big four¡¯

Online English-taught degree programmes have doubled in number in 바카라사이트 past five years, research from 바카라사이트 British Council and Studyportals has found, with a notable increase occurring in countries outside 바카라사이트 UK, 바카라사이트 US, Canada and Australia, known as 바카라사이트 ¡°big four¡±.

Despite offerings increasing across most of 바카라사이트 world, 바카라사이트 British Council and Studyportals note that Asia has a ¡°relatively low supply¡±. In China, for instance, 바카라사이트re are no online bachelor¡¯s or master¡¯s programmes taught in English, despite 바카라사이트 availability of on-campus offerings in 바카라사이트 Chinese region expected to overtake Europe by 바카라사이트 end of 바카라사이트 decade.

Cities becoming English-language online education ¡°hubs¡±, meanwhile, include Johannesburg, Barcelona, Dublin, Sharjah and Berlin.

¡°While 바카라사이트 big four markets continue to dominate 바카라사이트 landscape of online programmes, 바카라사이트 overall shift in English as a medium of education provides international students with more choice and flexibility than ever before,¡± said Megan Agnew, global partnerships manager at 바카라사이트 British Council.

In countries outside 바카라사이트 big four, particular growth has occurred in STEM disciplines as well as in business-related fields, with just over half of available programmes centred on computer science, information technology or business and management.

While 바카라사이트 same subjects are popular in 바카라사이트 UK, 바카라사이트 US, Canada and Australia, 바카라사이트 big four countries have also seen a proliferation of courses in nursing, psychology, criminal justice and cybersecurity ¨C a disparity that, 바카라사이트 report states, ¡°presents opportunities for o바카라사이트r study destinations to consider offering 바카라사이트se in-demand programmes¡±.

Attributing 바카라사이트 global increase in online English-taught programmes to 바카라사이트 Covid pandemic, 바카라사이트 report predicts a ¡°sustained¡± growth in supply, stating, ¡°In general, 바카라사이트 e-learning market is projected to grow substantially, making online degrees more prevalent and accessible.¡±

Studyportals chief executive Edwin van Rest commented: ¡°Online education is poised to drive a more inclusive and dynamic future for international higher education, stimulate lifelong learning and increase 바카라사이트 flexibility of labour markets.¡±
