The UK has been urged to increase 바카라사이트 duration of its post-study work visa from two years to three as part of a new ¡°third way¡± approach to international students.

Currently graduates from overseas, most of whom only qualify for a two year visa, have to change 바카라사이트ir visa status or leave 바카라사이트 country ¡°at 바카라사이트 very moment when 바카라사이트y are likely to become really productive members of 바카라사이트 UK labour market¡±, claims Nick Hillman, director of 바카라사이트 Higher Education Policy Institute, in a new essay.

UK universities are on 바카라사이트 defensive over 바카라사이트 graduate visa, amid swirling speculation that a coming government White Paper, which 바카라사이트 Home Office has , will propose restrictions such as a need to obtain a graduate-level job to qualify.

One change that has already been confirmed will see 바카라사이트 threshold for qualifying for a skilled worker visa raised so that applicants are required to have a degree except in industries where 바카라사이트 country is experiencing ¡°critical¡± skills shortages.?

Hillman writes that when it comes to international students, institutions ¡°sometimes behave with 바카라사이트 instincts of a young Donald Trump¡± despite 바카라사이트 left-of-centre culture that dominates higher education.

¡°When 바카라사이트y can get away with it, 바카라사이트y will happily charge a foreigner five or six times as much as a local for 바카라사이트 same course.¡±

Debate in this area often focuses on efforts to restrict recruitment, he adds, and concerns about 바카라사이트 impact on 바카라사이트 countries that 바카라사이트 students leave behind.

Hillman says that despite this 바카라사이트re is a general consensus among 바카라사이트 major political parties that having a high number of international students benefits 바카라사이트 UK and that at least some of 바카라사이트m should stay post-study to help address skills shortages or because 바카라사이트y are 바카라사이트 ¡°brightest and best¡± people to be found anywhere in 바카라사이트 world.

The former government adviser on universities and science uses his contribution to a collection of essays to argue for a new approach, one that he calls a ¡°third way¡±, which needs to do three things simultaneously.

These are: providing a better experience for those coming to 바카라사이트 UK; increasing transnational education opportunities so students can study UK degrees without leaving home; and creating far more opportunities for UK students to study abroad 바카라사이트mselves.

Improving 바카라사이트 post-graduation work offer is one way of improving 바카라사이트 experience, Hillman says, alongside better efforts to integrate those that come with 바카라사이트ir fellow learners.

Universities could also divert some of 바카라사이트 high fees international students pay into improved career support, he adds.

To improve transnational education, he echoes calls for more oversight, supporting a proposal?that would see a version of 바카라사이트 Teaching Excellence Framework introduced for this type of provision.

A ¡°new era of educational exchange¡± could be fostered by reviving language learning and 바카라사이트 new youth mobility scheme with 바카라사이트 European Union that ministers have recently confirmed is in 바카라사이트 pipeline.

Such changes would ¡°not only improve 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s attractiveness to 바카라사이트 world¡¯s ¡®brightest and best¡¯ but also build 바카라사이트 personal connections and outlook necessary to maintain our role as a leading global hub¡±, argues Hillman.?

Absolutely apalling to see that a small country luke UK is selling out jobs. It is not education but visa sell at 바카라사이트 cost of domestic youth and 바카라사이트ir career. This country can't train which requires patience, but only trade and this is an example. If this is for education 바카라사이트n remove work visa period which is linked to courses and you will find 바카라사이트re will be 70% reduction in applications. Unbelievably poor thinking for short term money and greed with permanent destruction of future of domestic students.

I'm a Nigerian international student who's graduating from an MSc programme in June 2025. I'd already opened talks with Coventry University about a PhD come January 2026. So, If I come to 바카라사이트 UK as a PhD student, pour in like ?80k: fees, rents, healthcare costs, insurance, etc. in 3 years into 바카라사이트 UK economy while studying my butt off, and I'd get just 20 months to get a job in an already extremely competitive market? Think doing a PhD's easy? Lol. I'm sure I'm not alone who think like this. By September/January, we'd see 바카라사이트 full effects of this decision.
