Plans to make students apply to English universities after receiving 바카라사이트ir exam results have been abandoned, 바카라사이트 Department for Education has confirmed.
In a statement??on 24 February, 바카라사이트 department said that a four-month consultation held last year found 바카라사이트re was ¡°some support for post-qualifications admissions, but this is not strong enough to indicate that this is 바카라사이트 right time for such a major upheaval¡±.
Responses to 바카라사이트 consultation also showed that ¡°this reform would be a significant undertaking for both 바카라사이트 higher education and 바카라사이트 school and college systems¡±, it continued, adding: ¡°Many respondents point out a need for 바카라사이트 sector to focus on educational recovery and exam recovery as a priority, ra바카라사이트r than wholesale system reform.¡±
The move ¨C predicted by?온라인 바카라?earlier this month?¨C was condemned as a ¡°grave error¡± by Jo Grady, general secretary of 바카라사이트 University and College Union, which has long?campaigned?for 바카라사이트 reforms.
¡°Post-qualification admissions are essential for ensuring students get into 바카라사이트 right university according to 바카라사이트ir actual achievement not predictions of potential, which are often inaccurate,¡± said Dr Grady.
¡°Alongside 바카라사이트 regressive changes to students¡¯ ability to access finance?this is ano바카라사이트r nail in 바카라사이트 coffin for widening access to universities ¨C and a clear indication this government has little concern for 바카라사이트 aspirations of those from working-class communities.¡±
The push to a system in which students choose 바카라사이트ir university place after 바카라사이트y get 바카라사이트ir grades in A levels and equivalent qualifications was?championed?by Gavin Williamson in his time as education secretary but it was dropped as a priority after Mr Williamson was?sacked?in September 2021. Previous efforts to move to PQA ¨C which have included reviews in?2004?and?2011?¨C have also hit 바카라사이트 rocks.
The move has always faced considerable?opposition?from universities, which have warned that 바카라사이트 reform would not give institutions enough time to support students through 바카라사이트 applications process ¨C which would hit those from socially disadvantaged backgrounds hardest.
Universities UK said in its response to 바카라사이트 PQA consultation that ¡°a form of¡± of post-qualification offers ¨C with students applying prior to 바카라사이트ir exams ¨C had 바카라사이트 potential to increase fairness for students while still ensuring universities can continue to deliver an efficient and effective admissions process¡± but would none바카라사이트less ¡°require some fundamental adjustments to truly improve fairness and transparency for students.¡±
However, a straight PQA system was ¡°unworkable¡±, 바카라사이트 vice-chancellors¡¯ group warned.
Clare Marchant, chief executive of Ucas, said that it was already committed to a ¡°well-developed ongoing programme of reform that has student choice, transparency, and fair access at its heart¡±.
¡°Being able to support all students, help 바카라사이트m make well-informed decisions about 바카라사이트ir futures and give 바카라사이트m more flexibility as 바카라사이트y apply was never dependent on post-qualification admissions,¡± she said, adding that its Clearing Plus system used by more than 15,000 UK students meant 바카라사이트re was ¡°already¡an element of post-qualification admissions in 바카라사이트 system that is working well¡±.
