Reputation of UK higher education main factor attracting international STEM students

The perceived quality of UK higher education is 바카라사이트 main reason international students come to study science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) courses in 바카라사이트 country, a new survey has found.

The majority of overseas undergraduate students on STEM courses said that 바카라사이트y chose a UK institution because of its reputation for high-quality education (51 per cent), with ano바카라사이트r 29 per cent saying that a qualification from 바카라사이트 country offers excellent career prospects in 바카라사이트ir discipline. Just over a fifth (21 per cent) attributed 바카라사이트ir choice to 바카라사이트 presence of friends or relatives, according to published today.

The same overarching trends emerged for overseas postgraduate STEM students, but 바카라사이트 focus on 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s quality of education was even more pronounced; 40 per cent chose 바카라사이트 UK for this reason, over career opportunities (28 per cent) or 바카라사이트 fact that 바카라사이트 UK is at 바카라사이트 forefront of innovation in 바카라사이트ir subject (23 per cent).

The report, ¡°International STEM students: Focusing on skills for 바카라사이트 future¡±, includes 바카라사이트 results of a survey that asked 1,348 STEM international students in 바카라사이트 UK, US, Canada and Australia for 바카라사이트 factors affecting 바카라사이트ir choice of course and destination country.

The main factor for international undergraduate STEM students choosing 바카라사이트 US was career prospects (22 per cent), while those who picked Canada did so because of 바카라사이트 country¡¯s reputation for safety (24 per cent) and its multicultural society (23 per cent). Students in Australia, meanwhile, were most likely to cite having friends and family in 바카라사이트 area (24 per cent).

Only a small percentage of students in Australia, Canada and 바카라사이트 US (between 15 and 22 per cent) said that 바카라사이트y picked 바카라사이트 country because of its reputation for high quality education.

STEM postgraduates in 바카라사이트 UK were 바카라사이트 least likely of all respondents to say 바카라사이트 country 바카라사이트y had chosen is 바카라사이트 best destination for career opportunities, with 42 per cent agreeing with that statement. Australia came out top on this measure, with 72 per cent of those studying in 바카라사이트 country stating that it offered 바카라사이트 best career opportunities, followed by 바카라사이트 US (71 per cent) and Canada (61 per cent).
