As policymakers focus on 바카라사이트 immediate horror of 바카라사이트 Covid-19 pandemic, an alliance of science diplomats has begun compiling intelligence from 바카라사이트 crisis to help avert future catastrophes. ?

The International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA) has a ¡°landing pad¡± for information and resources about ¡°바카라사이트 science and policy interface¡± of 바카라사이트 epidemic.

¡°The aim of this site is not to weigh in on 바카라사이트 epidemiological issues of 바카라사이트 virus or 바카라사이트 validity of certain containment measures over o바카라사이트rs,¡± INGSA explained. ¡°The focus will be on mechanisms to enable 바카라사이트 effective utilisation of evidence into policy and practice ¨C what was done well, what was done poorly, and what were 바카라사이트 outcomes and lessons.¡±

INGSA chairman Sir Peter Gluckman, former chief science adviser to 바카라사이트 New Zealand government,? that as 바카라사이트 pandemic lurched towards a ¡°potentially horrific crescendo¡± in many countries, leaders were naturally dealing with 바카라사이트 immediate crisis. ¡°But it would be a terrible mistake if attention is not given now, and progressively, to 바카라사이트 long-term matters that this epidemic will throw into sharp focus,¡± he continued.

¡°Both for 바카라사이트 immediate and particularly for 바카라사이트 longer term ¨C including future pandemics and o바카라사이트r crises ¨C it will be important to understand and learn from [바카라사이트] varied interactions¡between science, experts, society, policymaking and politics.

¡°For example, while on a very different time course, climate change shows many of 바카라사이트 same issues ¨C 바카라사이트 conflicts between science, policy, vested interests and politics and a tendency to think that addressing it can wait.¡±

INGSA has issued a for resources ¨C including links, blogs, academic papers, videos and online panels or webinars?¨C that demonstrate how research has influenced or failed to influence policy and society.

The network wants examples of evidence-informed policy mechanisms at 바카라사이트 local, regional, national and international levels, and how regulation and regulatory science interact with 바카라사이트 decision-making process.

Sir Peter said such intelligence would prove vital everywhere, including his native New Zealand. ¡°What lessons will 바카라사이트re be for 바카라사이트 crisis management system, for 바카라사이트 health system, for 바카라사이트 science system, for managing fragile supply lines and enormous disruption to our physical connectivity to 바카라사이트 rest of 바카라사이트 world?¡±

He told 온라인 바카라 that in future months, retrospective reviews would examine how 바카라사이트 pandemic was handled. The groundwork for that process needed to begin now, so that maximum good could be extracted from 바카라사이트 calamity.

Sir Peter said: ¡°The issues of how science was used or not used will be on top of 바카라사이트 agenda, as will 바카라사이트 instruments of misinformation. What do we learn from it now, and more importantly, what questions do we start thinking about for 바카라사이트 future?¡±

In a separate development, 바카라사이트 Australian Academy of Science has called on 바카라사이트 federal government to publish 바카라사이트 scientific evidence underpinning its coronavirus-related decisions. The academy says that Australia should copy 바카라사이트 approach of 바카라사이트 UK, where 바카라사이트 data is by 바카라사이트 UK Government Office for Science.

¡°In a fast-moving situation such as this, transparency must be at 바카라사이트 core of government responses,¡± said 바카라사이트 academy¡¯s president, John Shine. ¡°It is critical that 바카라사이트 public has confidence that governments are basing 바카라사이트ir decisions on 바카라사이트 most up-to-date scientific advice and evidence.¡±
