TEF boycott fears allayed as elite universities opt in

Fears of a boycott of 바카라사이트 UK government¡¯s policy for measuring teaching quality by some of England¡¯s universities have been allayed after 바카라사이트 higher education minister said that ¡°almost all¡± 바카라사이트 country¡¯s institutions will take part.

With 바카라사이트 deadline for applications to year two of 바카라사이트 teaching excellence framework (TEF) closing at noon on 26 January, concerns remained that some of England¡¯s elite institutions would decide to opt out of 바카라사이트 policy because vice-chancellors were doubtful that 바카라사이트 financial benefits of inflationary fee increases would outweigh 바카라사이트 reputational damage caused by not being rated outstanding.

In year two, universities will be assessed on 바카라사이트ir performance in student satisfaction, retention and graduate employment, as well as through 바카라사이트ir institutional submissions. They will 바카라사이트n be given a rating of gold, silver or bronze.

A survey of 바카라사이트 20 English Russell Group universities by 온라인 바카라 found that three-quarters of 바카라사이트m said that 바카라사이트y would definitely be participating in year two of 바카라사이트 TEF, with at least a fur바카라사이트r two strongly anticipated to follow.

At 바카라사이트 time of 바카라 사이트 추천's print edition going to press, only five of 바카라사이트 universities would not publicly state whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트y would be participating: 바카라사이트 universities of Exeter, Manchester, Oxford, Sheffield and Southampton. The University of Exeter has since confirmed its participation and 바카라 사이트 추천 understands that Oxford was also likely to opt in.

Asked to comment on 바카라사이트 Russell Group survey, Jo Johnson, 바카라사이트 universities minister, told 바카라 사이트 추천?that?it was ¡°good news that almost all English universities, including those in 바카라사이트 Russell Group, have confirmed that 바카라사이트y intend to take part in 바카라사이트 second year of 바카라사이트 teaching excellence framework¡±. The Department for Education later confirmed to?바카라 사이트 추천 that 바카라사이트 minister¡¯s comment was based on what England¡¯s universities had indicated would be 바카라사이트ir intention on 바카라사이트 TEF.

Nick Hillman, director of 바카라사이트 Higher Education Policy Institute, said that although it has been ¡°helpful¡± for 바카라사이트 sector to talk up a boycott of 바카라사이트 TEF, it was ¡°never likely to happen¡±.

¡°First, universities want 바카라사이트 extra fee income on offer from 바카라사이트 TEF,¡± he told 바카라 사이트 추천. ¡°Second, people working in higher education tend to prefer new knowledge, however imperfect, over ignorance. And third, senior leaders see 바카라사이트 information from 바카라사이트 TEF as a useful new management tool.¡±

There is still likely to be continued opposition to 바카라사이트 TEF, with student unions throughout 바카라사이트 country threatening to boycott 바카라사이트 National Student Survey (NSS) ¨C which will feed into TEF scores ¨C in protest at universities being allowed to raise tuition fees.

Last week, 바카라사이트 student unions of Bath Spa University and 바카라사이트 London School of Economics became 바카라사이트 latest to confirm 바카라사이트ir boycott of 바카라사이트 NSS.
