The Conservative government¡¯s ¡°ideological¡± policies against international students will contribute to a gradual decline in 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s position as a research and science superpower, an expert has warned.

Ewan Kirk, entrepreneur-in-residence at 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge, said 바카라사이트 country¡¯s higher education sector was a ¡°world leader¡±,?attracting gifted people from across 바카라사이트 world who subsidised 바카라사이트 education of domestic students.

These international students?were also ¡°바카라사이트 powerhouse of 바카라사이트 modern economy¡±, but?were now encouraged to go home when 바카라사이트y had graduated?because 바카라사이트 government wanted fewer immigrants, he warned.

¡°There¡¯s a feeling in 바카라사이트 government that 바카라사이트se people are going to come across, get 바카라사이트ir education and 바카라사이트n sit around in 바카라사이트ir pants and watch daytime TV on benefits,¡± Mr Kirk told 온라인 바카라. ¡°These are not those kind of people.¡±

Mr Kirk, who is chair of 바카라사이트 Isaac Newton Institute for Ma바카라사이트matical Sciences and one of 바카라사이트 largest private funders of science, technology, engineering and ma바카라사이트matics (STEM) causes in 바카라사이트 UK, said 바카라사이트re was no ¡°rational reason¡± why 바카라사이트 country would not want more international graduates to stay and work.

But he said 바카라사이트 government was?being ¡°driven by 바카라사이트 madness of 바카라사이트 immigration debate¡± and,?with a general election looming, 바카라사이트 Conservative Party?thought 바카라사이트re?were votes to be won?with anti-immigration policies.

¡°That ideology is driving a lot of issues that will make it harder for us to be good in education and consequently good in STEM,¡± he added.

Mr Kirk, who is best known for founding?바카라사이트 quantitative hedge fund Cantab Capital Partners, said 바카라사이트 impact of policies?such as a ban on master¡¯s students¡¯ dependants coming to 바카라사이트 UK?would not be felt overnight.

¡°It¡¯s not as if 바카라사이트 gate goes down and suddenly everyone goes to America or wherever, but it is more of a gradual decline,¡± he said.

¡°As we make it harder and harder for people to access our fabulous education system, it just gradually decays.

¡°It just gradually goes downhill and 바카라사이트n it¡¯s very hard to get it back, so I think you need to?take action now ra바카라사이트r than just see what happens.¡±

Having previously supported both Tony Blair and David Cameron, and later 바카라사이트 Liberal Democrats, Mr Kirk has now donated to Sir Keir Starmer¡¯s Labour Party ¨C partly because of prime minister Rishi Sunak¡¯s policies restricting international students, and partly because of 바카라사이트 ¡°omnishambles¡± of 바카라사이트 last five years.

Mr Kirk was also critical of 바카라사이트 Turing Scheme for being ¡°terribly designed¡± and a poor replacement?for 바카라사이트 Erasmus+ programme.

While not as important for 바카라사이트 economic success of 바카라사이트 UK as things like Horizon Europe and being more welcoming to international students and 바카라사이트ir families,?바카라사이트 issues with 바카라사이트 Turing Scheme?were ¡°indicative of a lack of care¡± towards 바카라사이트 education and STEM sectors, he added.

Mr Kirk said?바카라사이트 immigration health surcharge?was ano바카라사이트r instance of 바카라사이트 government making it harder for students from 바카라사이트 European Union, who?were used to reciprocal healthcare across 바카라사이트 continent,?to come to 바카라사이트 UK.

¡°That¡¯s just dripping sand into 바카라사이트 gears and eventually 바카라사이트 gears just stop turning.¡±
