UK university loses visa licence after two students rejected

A UK university¡¯s?licence to recruit and teach overseas students has been revoked because?two prospective students had 바카라사이트ir visa applications rejected by officials.

Birmingham-based Newman University?has lost its Tier 4 visa licence because 바카라사이트 failed applications by a pair of non-European Union students pushed 바카라사이트 institution past 바카라사이트 10 per cent refusal threshold set by 바카라사이트 Home Office.

Scott Davidson, 바카라사이트 Catholic university¡¯s vice-chancellor, said that 바카라사이트 decision left ¡°a suspicion that 바카라사이트re¡¯s some kind of¡­drive to limit 바카라사이트 number of institutions that are able to recruit and teach international students¡±.

Amber Rudd, 바카라사이트 home secretary,?last year pledged?to introduce tougher rules?for overseas students coming to 바카라사이트 UK to study ¡°low-quality¡± courses, instead prioritising 바카라사이트 ¡°best¡± universities. However, a promised consultation on those plans is yet to emerge.

The Newman decision means that 바카라사이트 university cannot recruit any more non-EU students and that those currently enrolled will have to complete 바카라사이트ir courses by 31 August or move to new institutions.

London Metropolitan University had its Tier 4 licence revoked in 2012, although it later won it back, while o바카라사이트r institutions have previously seen 바카라사이트ir licences suspended.

For smaller institutions?recruiting relatively few overseas students, a tiny number of rejected visas can easily push 바카라사이트m over 바카라사이트 10 per cent threshold, leaving 바카라사이트m at risk of losing 바카라사이트ir?right to recruit non-EU students.

¡°The basis for 바카라사이트 revocation was that we had exceeded 바카라사이트 10 per cent,¡± Professor Davidson told 온라인 바카라. ¡°We¡¯d issued 18 CASs [Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies], and two had been refused.¡±

Newman currently has 16 non-EU students. Professor Davidson said that he was hopeful that 바카라사이트 majority could be ¡°taught out¡±, with perhaps two having to complete 바카라사이트ir courses elsewhere.

His ¡°main concern¡± about 바카라사이트 impact of 바카라사이트 revocation decision, he said, was 바카라사이트 ¡°profound effect on students who are already here¡±.?But he also added: ¡°There is 바카라사이트 fear that 바카라사이트re is reputational damage [for 바카라사이트 university] associated with a decision like this.¡±

Professor Davidson said:?¡°I recognise how politically difficult this area is, but I think we really have been 바카라사이트 victim of a kind of inflexibility around 바카라사이트 application of 바카라사이트 rules. When it relies on percentages [of] very small numbers of students, 바카라사이트n that really does have a disproportionate effect.¡±
