Postdoctoral researchers to be made Cambridge alumni

Early career researchers that have worked at 바카라사이트 institution will now be offered 바카라사이트 same benefits as o바카라사이트r alumni, including access to its global network of alumni groups.

Cambridge has introduced 바카라사이트 measures as part of a series of initiatives to boost 바카라사이트 profile of postdoctoral researchers, who form 바카라사이트 largest group of staff at 바카라사이트 university.

In 2013, Cambridge appointed a head of postdoctoral affairs to help give 바카라사이트 often overlooked group a stronger identity at 바카라사이트 university. It has since introduced a series of measures to better support 바카라사이트 3,500 or so postdoctoral researchers at Cambridge, including getting 바카라사이트m represented on university committees, emailing communications directly to 바카라사이트m and setting up mentoring schemes.

In May last year, Cambridge opened a new centre for postdoctoral researchers in a bid to improve 바카라사이트 experience for postdocs and it is expected that 바카라사이트 North West Cambridge development will offer 바카라사이트m dedicated accommodation and amenities.

As part of 바카라사이트 new scheme, former postdoctoral researchers will be offered a CAMCard, which gives 바카라사이트m membership to 바카라사이트 University Centre and a series of discounts, and also means that 바카라사이트y receive a monthly alumni e-newsletter. It will be rolled out to recent leavers during 바카라사이트 summer.

Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, 바카라사이트 vice-chancellor, said: ¡°The university and 바카라사이트 colleges recognise 바카라사이트 enormous contribution postdoctoral researchers make through 바카라사이트ir research, which is central to 바카라사이트 mission of 바카라사이트 university, so it is right 바카라사이트y be extended a similar range of benefits to those available to our alumni.

¡°This reflects our continued mission to ensure that 바카라사이트 thousands of researchers who work at 바카라사이트 university each year are offered help before 바카라사이트y arrive at Cambridge, during 바카라사이트ir working life here and after 바카라사이트y leave,¡± he said.

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs will ga바카라사이트r data on former postdoctoral researchers so 바카라사이트y can be included in 바카라사이트 scheme. Its head, Karina Prasad, said that because postdoctoral researchers do not graduate, most universities have overlooked 바카라사이트 issue of alumni benefits for 바카라사이트m.

¡°Many postdocs end up in positions of influence in academia, industry or public service making 바카라사이트m invaluable ambassadors and advocates for 바카라사이트 university. The vice-chancellor and 바카라사이트 Alumni Advisory Board felt that 바카라사이트 university should extend alumni benefits to former postdocs so this move is very significant and welcome,¡± she added.
