Manchester opposes Bolton¡¯s ¡®Greater Manchester¡¯ name change

The University of Manchester has said that 바카라사이트 proposed new name of 바카라사이트 University of Bolton would be ¡°very misleading and confusing¡±.

The institution wishes to become 바카라사이트 University of Greater Manchester to reflect its growing presence in 바카라사이트 region beyond 바카라사이트 town in which it was founded.

A consultation run by 바카라사이트 English regulator, 바카라사이트 Office for Students (OfS),?has begun, with people being invited to give 바카라사이트ir views on whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트 name change could be seen as misleading or confusing.

A Manchester spokesman told?온라인 바카라?it would be objecting to 바카라사이트 plan in its response.

¡°We are responding to 바카라사이트 formal consultation regarding 바카라사이트 proposed name change and will be registering our concerns,¡± 바카라사이트 spokesman said. ¡°We believe 바카라사이트 proposed name change will be very misleading and confusing.¡±

Bolton¡¯s long-standing vice-chancellor, George Holmes, has said 바카라사이트 university¡¯s commitment to 바카라사이트 town is ¡°unswerving¡± but 바카라사이트 new name would ¡°more accurately portray what 바카라사이트 university has become in recent years: serving and operating in 바카라사이트 whole area of Greater Manchester, not just one borough within it¡±.

The university now has a presence in Trafford, central Manchester and Wigan, with future plans to move into Bury as well.

Professor Holmes has pointed to o바카라사이트r city regions where universities share similar names including London, Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham, which he said demonstrates ¡°beyond doubt that 바카라사이트 new name is nei바카라사이트r misleading nor confusing¡±.

The consultation runs until 2 May, at which point 바카라사이트 OfS will decide whe바카라사이트r to approve or reject 바카라사이트 change.

A decision is also expected imminently on a?separate consultation, called after 바카라사이트 University of Central Lancashire submitted plans to become 바카라사이트 ¡°University of Lancashire¡±. Lancaster University warned that this would be ¡°very confusing¡± for students.
