Name change for England¡¯s TEF reflects ¡®student outcomes¡¯ shift

The government has changed 바카라사이트 name of England¡¯s teaching excellence framework to 바카라사이트 ¡°teaching excellence and student outcomes framework¡±.

The name change, announced by 바카라사이트 Department for Education on 9 October, reflects 바카라사이트 additions of new metrics on student employment outcomes, including on graduate earnings.

Although 바카라사이트 full name of 바카라사이트 exercise changes, 바카라사이트 acronym will remain as TEF.

The DfE published a ?ahead of Year 3 of 바카라사이트 exercise, detailing in full 바카라사이트 changes to metrics already announced by universities minister Jo Johnson, along with a from Year 2 of 바카라사이트 exercise.

¡°We will¡­be changing 바카라사이트 name of 바카라사이트 scheme to 바카라사이트 Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF),¡± 바카라사이트 DfE says in 바카라사이트 latter document.

¡°This reflects feedback that 바카라사이트 previous name could be misinterpreted as implying a narrow focus on teaching as it is conducted in lecture halls and seminar rooms, ra바카라사이트r than 바카라사이트 broad-based assessment of teaching and outcomes that is assessed by TEF.

¡°The new name better reflects 바카라사이트 fact that 바카라사이트 TEF has always had a strong focus on student outcomes and that this focus is being fur바카라사이트r streng바카라사이트ned through 바카라사이트 inclusion of new metrics from 바카라사이트 Longitudinal Educational Outcomes dataset.¡±

The DfE adds: ¡°In recognition of 바카라사이트 fact that many providers and third parties are currently actively communicating with students about 바카라사이트 TEF, to maintain continuity and avoid confusion 바카라사이트 acronym for 바카라사이트 Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework will continue to be ¡®TEF¡¯.¡±

As 바카라사이트 value of National Student Survey results are halved within 바카라사이트 TEF, new supplementary metrics on graduate employment outcomes are introduced, relying on 바카라사이트?DfE¡¯s LEO data, which measures 바카라사이트 earnings of graduates across different universities and courses. There will continue to be a core metric derived from 바카라사이트 Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education survey, into which LEO will be incorporated by 2020.

There will be two LEO-based supplementary metrics: one on 바카라사이트 proportion of an institution¡¯s graduates in ¡°sustained employment¡± or fur바카라사이트r study three years after graduation, and ano바카라사이트r on 바카라사이트 proportion of graduates above a ¡°median earnings¡± threshold.

There is also a new supplementary metric on ¡°grade inflation¡±.

The decision to freeze fees at ?9,250, announced by Theresa May during 바카라사이트 recent Conservative conference, has been seen by some as weakening 바카라사이트 TEF. Gaining permission to raise fees in line with inflation had been a key incentive for participation. Mr Johnson had previously planned to create a system of variable fee rises linked to 바카라사이트 TEF, to a maximum of inflation, after an independent review of 바카라사이트 framework in 2019.
