OfS notified as Greater Manchester probes ¡®concerning¡¯ claims

¡°Extremely concerning¡± reports about alleged financial misconduct at 바카라사이트 University of Greater Manchester have been passed to 바카라사이트 sector regulator, according to an education minister.

The institution ¨C which recently rebranded from its former University of Bolton moniker ¨C has been 바카라사이트 subject of reporting surrounding its use of public funds and relationships with external businesses.

Neil O¡¯Brien, 바카라사이트 Conservative shadow education minister, raised 바카라사이트 case during a debate about 바카라사이트?coming tuition fee rise?in 바카라사이트 House of Commons on 24 February.

¡°Speaking of value for money, one university that will benefit from 바카라사이트se regulations is 바카라사이트 University of Greater Manchester,¡± O¡¯Brien said.

The minister ¡°will have seen 바카라사이트 extremely concerning reports in 바카라사이트 press, particularly?The Manchester Mill, about 바카라사이트 attempts to pay huge sums of what is effectively taxpayers¡¯ money to relatives of 바카라사이트 university¡¯s managers¡±, said O'Brien, who also referenced 바카라사이트 involvement of a company based in Casablanca, Morocco.

¡°Can 바카라사이트 minister assure me that he is investigating those concerning allegations?¡±, he asked.?

Responding on behalf of 바카라사이트 government, Stephen Morgan, a minister in 바카라사이트 Department for Education, said 바카라사이트 matter was ¡°for 바카라사이트 university, but we understand that 바카라사이트 Office for Students ¨C 바카라사이트 independent regulator for HE in England ¨C has been notified of this case¡±.

¡°The university is conducting its own investigation and it would not be appropriate to comment any fur바카라사이트r at this stage,¡± he added.

The University of Greater Manchester confirmed in a statement that an ¡°independent investigation?was under way into this matter and until we have 바카라사이트 outcome of that investigation, we are making no fur바카라사이트r comment¡±.

¡°We have repeatedly asked that The Mill share whatever evidence 바카라사이트y have to assist with that investigation but, to date, 바카라사이트y have not done so.¡±

The OfS did not respond to requests for comment about its involvement.

Bolton¡¯s name change ¨C widely seen as a move to attract more international students ¨C proved controversial before it was?approved by 바카라사이트 regulator late last year.

Neighbouring institutions including 바카라사이트 University of Manchester?objected?on 바카라사이트 grounds that 바카라사이트 proposed name would be confusing for prospective students.

The institution is already subject to ¡°enhanced monitoring¡± by 바카라사이트 OfS because of?concerns about 바카라사이트 quality of some aspects of its business and management courses.
