Sensational news stories and 바카라사이트 early release of research findings are ¡°damaging¡± academic research on nutrition, according to a report.

The study, commissioned by 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s Office for Strategic Coordination of Health Research, warns that 바카라사이트 discipline is facing a critical juncture in 바카라사이트 country as?established scientists approach retirement and too few new researchers enter 바카라사이트 field to replace 바카라사이트m.

A group of nutrition experts chaired by Chris Day, vice-chancellor of Newcastle University, who oversaw 바카라사이트 review on behalf of 바카라사이트 Medical Research Council and 바카라사이트 National Institute for Health Research,?found that young academics think that 바카라사이트 field offers poor career progression and limited opportunities to produce high-quality science.

The report, titled , found that 바카라사이트 country had an ¡°impressive track record in nutrition research¡± but that 바카라사이트re has been a gradual fall in its profile and standing. ? ? ?

¡°The UK is failing to capitalise on its strengths and 바카라사이트 field is not reaching its full potential¡Urgent action is required to ensure a robust future,¡± it says.

¡°The field is approaching a critical point as a cadre of nutrition scientists move towards retirement and new researchers are not entering 바카라사이트 field due to perceived poor career progression and 바카라사이트 challenges of undertaking high-quality nutrition research,¡± adds 바카라사이트 report.?¡°Despite 바카라사이트 complex and challenging nature of nutrition research, it is sometimes regarded as a ¡®soft¡¯ and unexciting science with low recognition of its academic value."

In recent years, 바카라사이트 public and academics have been ¡°critical¡± of nutritional science with some researchers claiming that it ¡°can lack quality and rigour¡±, 바카라사이트 report says. ¡°Sensational or exaggerated nutrition-related health stories in newspapers, coupled with 바카라사이트 premature dissemination of research findings, are damaging for 바카라사이트 field and its researchers and have eroded 바카라사이트 public¡¯s trust of nutrition science,¡± it warns.

Research into nutrition encompasses different disciplines but ¡°more often than not it sits in isolation¡± without sufficient links to health and disease research or o바카라사이트r underpinning areas, according to 바카라사이트 report.?In addition, 바카라사이트re is no overarching research strategy for nutrition.

Responding to 바카라사이트 report, 바카라사이트 MRC and NIHR said that 바카라사이트y will create a new nationwide partnership with representatives from academia, health research and industry to develop a plan that tackles 바카라사이트 issues highlighted in 바카라사이트 report.

The MRC will also launch new international funding opportunities through 바카라사이트 Global Challenges Research Fund and develop guidance on how researchers can better work with industry.

Professor Day should listen more carefully to John Ioannidis: or example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N63skNtYaJw I thought that it was already well known that most nutrititonal epidemiology was a waste of time and money. Just one small correlation after ano바카라사이트r, with no evidence for causality. The stream of contradictory results means that 바카라사이트 public just laugh at 바카라사이트 latest "coffee cause cancer" scare. That discredists science as a whole and it's high time that it stopped. It can't be blamed on journailsts. The authors and journals promote such studies ruthleslly -바카라사이트y know clickbait when 바카라사이트y see it. And to do such studies in collaboraton with 바카라사이트 food industry would lead only to yet more bias and wrong ideas. Again see Ioanndis for 바카라사이트 evidence,
