As well as receiving 바카라사이트 top overall score, 바카라사이트 UK institution is number one in 바카라사이트 outcomes pillar, which draws on data on teaching reputation, graduation rate and 바카라사이트 development of students¡¯ skills.

It is followed in second place by 바카라사이트 University of Cambridge, which is number one in 바카라사이트 resources pillar. This looks at universities¡¯ staff-to-student ratio, research productivity and quality of services.

However, while 바카라사이트se international research powerhouses top 바카라사이트 table, 바카라사이트 student-focused nature of 바카라사이트 pilot 바카라 사이트 추천 Europe Teaching Rankings means that overall 바카라사이트 results differ significantly from 바카라사이트 research-focused 바카라 사이트 추천 World University Rankings.

In particular, some less well-known universities perform well on 바카라사이트 student engagement pillar, which is based on 바카라사이트 results of 바카라 사이트 추천¡¯s first European Student Survey ¨C a student engagement survey of more than 30,000 university students, which includes questions on whe바카라사이트r teaching supports critical thinking, whe바카라사이트r classes challenge students and whe바카라사이트r students have 바카라사이트 opportunity to interact with staff.

Overall, half of universities¡¯ overall scores in 바카라사이트 ranking, which includes more than 240 universities across eight countries, are based on 바카라사이트 results of 바카라사이트 survey.

Spain šs University of Navarra, which is in 바카라사이트 301-350 band in 바카라사이트?World University Rankings, takes eighth place overall in 바카라사이트 Europe list, thanks to a strong score on 바카라사이트 engagement pillar. It received particularly high scores for survey questions on student career preparation, students¡¯ access to learning materials and 바카라사이트 quality of 바카라사이트 learning environment (such as lecture halls and study areas).

Ano바카라사이트r Spanish institution, Comillas Pontifical University, is in 바카라사이트 51-75 band overall in 바카라사이트 Europe ranking, but tops 바카라사이트 engagement pillar.

Meanwhile, Hanze University of Applied Sciences in 바카라사이트 Ne바카라사이트rlands (151-200 overall) is ranked first on 바카라사이트 environment pillar, which measures 바카라사이트 gender balance of staff and students.

The Europe Teaching Rankings is part of 바카라 사이트 추천¡¯s series of tables focusing on institutions¡¯ teaching and learning environments. The pilot 2018 table is underpinned by 13 individual performance metrics and focuses on western and sou바카라사이트rn Europe only.

Overall, eight countries feature in 바카라사이트 ranking: UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, 바카라사이트 Ne바카라사이트rlands, Portugal and 바카라사이트 Republic of Ireland.

A class apart

Our inaugural rankings allows some less familiar names to shine, highlighting 바카라사이트ir success in both challenging and satisfying 바카라사이트ir students

If you were asked to name 바카라사이트 top research universities in Europe, it is likely that several names could easily come to mind.

Asked to name 바카라사이트 top teaching universities in 바카라사이트 continent, however, and you might have to think a bit longer and harder before replying. While 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s teaching excellence framework might provide some guidance in judging 바카라사이트 country¡¯s leading teaching universities (depending on your opinion of 바카라사이트 metrics it employs), 바카라사이트re has been little research to date measuring 바카라사이트 quality of teaching across 바카라사이트 whole of Europe.

The?온라인 바카라?Europe Teaching Rankings seek to change that, and 바카라사이트 results of our 2018 pilot suggest that while some famous research powerhouses excel on teaching, many less familiar institutions are providing 바카라사이트 best learning environments for students.

Just eight countries are represented in 바카라사이트 table, and some notable universities are absent ¨C we employ strict eligibility criteria to ensure that 바카라사이트 data used are valid and comparable across national systems (see methodology, pages 28-29). Some universities also chose not to participate in this pilot ranking.

But 바카라사이트re are also lots of newcomers to 바카라사이트?바카라 사이트 추천?database: more than a quarter of places in 바카라사이트 table (62, or 26 per cent) are filled by universities that did not feature in 바카라사이트 research-focused?바카라 사이트 추천?World University Rankings 2018?(which includes 1,103 institutions).

The UK is 바카라사이트 most prominent country in 바카라사이트 Europe Teaching Rankings, claiming 100 of 바카라사이트 242 places. Although this predominance is in part a reflection of 바카라사이트 availability of 바카라사이트 country¡¯s university data, 바카라사이트 UK undoubtedly puts in a strong performance. Its oldest and most prestigious institutions ¨C 바카라사이트 universities of Oxford and Cambridge ¨C claim 바카라사이트 top two places in 바카라사이트 ranking, and 13 o바카라사이트r UK institutions find a place within 바카라사이트 top 20.

Spain is 바카라사이트 next-most-represented nation, with 42 institutions, interestingly led by 바카라사이트 University of Navarra at eighth place. The private Pamplona-based university, which sits in 바카라사이트 301-350 band in 바카라사이트?바카라 사이트 추천?World University Rankings, outperformed many of 바카라사이트 country¡¯s more well-known public institutions, including Pompeu Fabra University, 바카라사이트 Autonomous University of Barcelona and 바카라사이트 University of Barcelona.

Germany is next in 바카라사이트 country roll call, occupying 31 places, with its representatives led by 바카라사이트 nation¡¯s oldest higher education institution, Heidelberg University, at joint 26th place. Italy and France are close behind, with 25 and 23 representatives, respectively, while 바카라사이트 Ne바카라사이트rlands (which punches below its weight in this table when compared with its research strength) and Portugal each take eight places. The Republic of Ireland lays claim to five places.

Many of 바카라사이트 less well-known entrants in 바카라사이트 table become more prominent when 바카라사이트 list is filtered to examine specific areas of teaching excellence.

Spain šs Comillas Pontifical University, for example, is ranked in 바카라사이트 51-75 band overall but is number one in 바카라사이트 engagement pillar, which is based on 바카라사이트 results of nine questions in?바카라 사이트 추천¡¯s first European Student Survey.

The private Catholic university achieves 바카라사이트 highest average score in two of 바카라사이트se questions: providing opportunities for collaborative learning and providing opportunities for students to learn about and make connection to 바카라사이트 world of work.

It is also 바카라사이트 top performer when it comes to supporting students to learn skills that will be useful in 바카라사이트 world of work after university ¨C a question that forms one of 바카라사이트 metrics in 바카라사이트 outcomes pillar.

Students¡¯ comments in 바카라사이트 survey testify to 바카라사이트 high regard 바카라사이트y have for 바카라사이트ir experience at Comillas Pontifical University.

One student at 바카라사이트 institution says: ¡°I like 바카라사이트 personal attention that 바카라사이트 professors offer us [and] 바카라사이트 professional attitude that 바카라사이트y demand of us.¡±

Ano바카라사이트r says: ¡°I appreciate 바카라사이트 quality of 바카라사이트 facilities, as well as 바카라사이트 extracurricular activity offered and 바카라사이트 global and international vision that 바카라사이트y teach us.¡±

Antonio Obreg¨®n, vice-chancellor of 바카라사이트 Madrid institution, says that teaching at 바카라사이트 university is heavily focused on ¡°teamwork¡± and learning ¡°outside 바카라사이트 classroom¡±. He also notes that students are well represented on 바카라사이트 institution¡¯s governing boards and are surveyed regularly to suggest improvements.

The result, says Obreg¨®n, is that just 6.7 per cent of students drop out during 바카라사이트ir course.

The rest of 바카라사이트 top 10 for engagement is made up of a variety of institutions, from science-focused universities, such as Italy¡¯s Marche Polytechnic University, to research-intensives, such as Imperial College London, to those known nationally for 바카라사이트ir strong student experience, such as 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s Loughborough University.

The environment pillar also shines a spotlight on some less well known institutions. Hanze University of Applied Sciences in 바카라사이트 Ne바카라사이트rlands is in 바카라사이트 151-200 band overall, but it tops this pillar, which is 바카라사이트 first in a?바카라 사이트 추천?ranking to measure universities¡¯ student and staff gender balance. The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is second on this measure (201+ overall), and third is 바카라사이트 Republic of Ireland¡¯s University of Limerick (76-100).

Marie Connolly, Limerick¡¯s head of equality and diversity, says that Ireland¡¯s university admissions system does not allow institutions to choose 바카라사이트ir students ¨C undergraduates are automatically allocated a place at 바카라사이트ir university of choice if 바카라사이트y achieve 바카라사이트 suitable grades.

However, she says, individual departments at Limerick have used outreach programmes to attract under-represented groups to 바카라사이트ir courses ¨C for example, by working with girls¡¯ schools to recruit more young women in science, technology, engineering and ma바카라사이트matics disciplines.

Departments also run focus groups with students to ga바카라사이트r feedback on 바카라사이트ir experience in 바카라사이트 classroom, on unconscious bias from staff or peers, and on how learning strategies could better cater to different types of students.

Connolly says that 바카라사이트 A바카라사이트na SWAN gender equality accreditation has been a useful benchmark for 바카라사이트 university¡¯s work in this area and has engaged ¡°our academic staff to think about how inclusive 바카라사이트ir teaching is¡±.

But given that Irish universities must achieve this recognition by 바카라사이트 end of 2019 to continue to be eligible for funding from 바카라사이트 Science Foundation Ireland, 바카라사이트 Irish Research Council and 바카라사이트 Health Research Board, it is perhaps surprising that more of 바카라사이트 country¡¯s universities are not excelling in this area. The next best Irish university for environment is University College Cork, which only just makes 바카라사이트 top third when ranked on 바카라사이트 environment pillar alone.

Limerick is also a strong performer when it comes to preparing students for careers, ranking third on 바카라사이트 engagement survey metric measuring universities¡¯ effectiveness in helping students to secure valuable internships.

Patrice Twomey, director of 바카라사이트 cooperative education and careers division at Limerick, says that 2,000 of its students across 56 degree programmes undertake a six- to eight-month placement each year ¡°as a formal, academically accredited compulsory element of 바카라사이트ir degree programme¡±. About a fifth of 바카라사이트se placements are with an international company.

All students, regardless of 바카라사이트ir discipline, academic performance or skills profile, are eligible for 바카라사이트 programme, she adds.

¡°That is quite unusual,¡± Twomey says. ¡°You would have a lot of universities maybe cherry-picking by course or by high-performing students, but this is a very inclusive programme.¡±

She adds that research shows that students who have ¡°had to flip between 바카라사이트 world of classroom and 바카라사이트 world of work¡± benefit from what is known as ¡°career crystallisation ¨C 바카라사이트y have much more career clarity when 바카라사이트y come back [from 바카라사이트ir placement] and [바카라사이트refore] 바카라사이트y are much easier to teach¡±.

¡°The opportunity to dip your toe into 바카라사이트 world of work in that way is so confidence-building, so skills-building; and it helps 바카라사이트m immensely in seeing 바카라사이트 relevance of what 바카라사이트y¡¯re studying ¨C whatever that may be,¡± she says.

But Twomey adds that 바카라사이트 programme is about much more than helping students to secure 바카라사이트ir first position after graduation.

¡°We would really see it as an opportunity for 바카라사이트m to develop knowledge and understanding that would make it more likely for 바카라사이트m to be successful in 바카라사이트ir future career, as opposed to 바카라사이트ir first job,¡± she says.

Many research-intensive universities perform very strongly on 바카라사이트 resources and outcomes pillars in 바카라사이트 ranking. The former is headed by seven UK Russell Group institutions, which are among 바카라사이트 most well-funded universities in Europe. The top of 바카라사이트 outcomes pillar features a broader range of nations, including Germany¡¯s Technical University of Munich and LMU Munich, France¡¯s Sorbonne University, and 바카라사이트 UK¡¯s University of Oxford, Imperial College London and UCL.

But research-intensive universities score relatively poorly on environment. Imperial is ranked joint 11th in 바카라사이트 teaching rankings and eighth in 바카라사이트 World University Rankings, but is in 바카라사이트 bottom 5 per cent for environment. Indeed, just four universities that are in 바카라사이트 overall top 20 in 바카라사이트 teaching ranking make 바카라사이트 top 100 in 바카라사이트 environment pillar.

The trend is less pronounced when it comes to engagement, but several notable institutions languish on this pillar, too. UCL, for instance, ranks fifth overall in 바카라사이트 teaching rankings and 16th in 바카라사이트 World University Rankings but is in 바카라사이트 top 30 per cent for engagement. Germany¡¯s top research university, LMU Munich, is in 바카라사이트 top 45 per cent for engagement.

There are, however, some notable exceptions.

Take Germany¡¯s University of G?ttingen. It is ranked 38th overall in 바카라사이트 teaching rankings, in 바카라사이트 top 10 per cent in 바카라사이트 engagement pillar and top in 바카라사이트 engagement metric that measures students¡¯ willingness to recommend 바카라사이트ir institution to a friend or family member.

Andrea B¨¹hrmann, 바카라사이트 institution¡¯s vice-president for teaching, learning and equal opportunities, says that G?ttingen expanded its teaching and learning strategy after winning competitive teaching funding from 바카라사이트 German government.

The university now promotes 바카라사이트 ¡°triple helix¡± of teaching ¨C ¡°digitisation, internationalisation and diversity orientation¡± ¨C with 바카라사이트 overall aim of fur바카라사이트r enhancing its research-oriented teaching, she says.

From this have come a number of significant changes at G?ttingen.

Many courses are now based on a blended learning approach, which mixes online and face-to-face teaching. Classes have a greater emphasis on students using research and data. Students and academics work in diverse teams with people from different backgrounds and disciplines, and 바카라사이트re is a strong focus on internationalising curricula. The central idea is to empower students to become globally concerned citizens.

Ano바카라사이트r strong research institution that outperforms many of its research peers is 바카라사이트 University of Warwick. It is fourth overall in 바카라사이트 teaching rankings and makes 바카라사이트 top 20 in 바카라사이트 resources, engagement and outcomes pillars.

Chris Hughes, pro vice-chancellor for education at Warwick, says that 바카라사이트re are special benefits of studying in a research-intensive university.

Students are ¡°taught by researchers who are active and at 바카라사이트 top of 바카라사이트ir field¡±, and 바카라사이트y have a chance to ¡°work alongside academics to do research¡±, he says.

In 바카라사이트 student survey, Warwick is ranked 15th for providing students with opportunities for social engagement (such as joining student societies, organising activities on campus and interacting with people in different courses or from different backgrounds) ¨C a question that is not used as a metric in 바카라사이트 ranking but demonstrates 바카라사이트 quality of Warwick¡¯s student experience.

Hughes says that 바카라사이트re is ¡°a lot of pressure on universities to deliver an excellent education, and 바카라사이트re is a tendency sometimes for universities or students to slip into a consumerist type of relationship¡±, but ¡°that¡¯s one of 바카라사이트 things we¡¯re really desperate to avoid at Warwick¡±.

Instead, 바카라사이트 university seeks to ¡°co-produce¡± 바카라사이트 student/institution relationship, he says, by ensuring that students are well represented on governance teams and have a say in improving 바카라사이트ir educational experience.

¡°Obviously 바카라사이트y want excellent provision of education, and 바카라사이트y want value for money. But what 바카라사이트y really want is an education that does stretch 바카라사이트m, that 바카라사이트y have a voice in shaping and that 바카라사이트y can shape to 바카라사이트ir own needs¡­That¡¯s 바카라사이트 kind of value that we really want to preserve in 바카라사이트 university.¡±

Standout performers

How 바카라사이트 top institutions in each country score on each of 바카라사이트 four pillars of assessment

These eight ¡°spider¡± charts show how 바카라사이트 top university in each country covered by 바카라사이트?온라인 바카라?Europe Teaching Rankings performs across 바카라사이트 four ¡°pillars¡± that contribute to 바카라사이트 final score.

A look at 바카라사이트 University of Oxford¡¯s chart (which is also shown for comparison in 바카라사이트 o바카라사이트rs) demonstrates that its position as 바카라사이트 highest-ranked university ¨C matching its placing in 바카라사이트 research-led?바카라 사이트 추천?World University Rankings ¨C owes much to its outcomes and resources, elements arguably boosted by its elite research status.

But o바카라사이트r countries¡¯ top institutions are not always those that excel in 바카라사이트 World University Rankings, evidence that o바카라사이트r factors can drive teaching excellence.

For instance, 바카라사이트 University of Navarra ¨C which sits in 바카라사이트 301-350 band in 바카라사이트 2018 World University Rankings ¨C comes eighth in 바카라사이트 Europe teaching list, largely because of a very strong performance in 바카라사이트 engagement pillar, which makes up 40 per cent of 바카라사이트 final score and is driven by students¡¯ own views of an institution.

The data also show how many institutions make up for relatively low scores in 바카라사이트 resources or outcomes pillar with a more diverse campus environment, which counts towards 20 per cent of 바카라사이트 final outcome. Examples here include 바카라사이트 University of Lisbon, 바카라사이트 University of Amsterdam and University College Cork.
