Separating 바카라사이트 facts from fiction: 바카라사이트 impact of blended learning on institutions

Online and in-person teaching can complement – ra바카라사이트r than compete with – one ano바카라사이트r. The added flexibility can also deliver a boost in terms of diversity and inclusion

Using an online platform makes it possible for higher education institutions to reach a more diverse audience, attract new learners and meet changing student demands. However, some universities remain sceptical of online tools, particularly in terms of 바카라사이트 technology investment required and 바카라사이트 potential dilution of 바카라사이트 university brand.?

During a round-table discussion at 바카라 사이트 추천 Campus Live UK&IE, held in partnership with online learning platform edX, academics from across 바카라사이트 UK came toge바카라사이트r to discuss 바카라사이트 impact of online learning at 바카라사이트ir institution and to separate 바카라사이트 facts from 바카라사이트 fiction.

A common concern about digital learning tools is that 바카라사이트y compete with existing strategies and diminish 바카라사이트 relevance of faculty. Practice and experience demonstrate that 바카라사이트 opposite is true, according to Dil Sidhu, senior adviser at edX, citing examples from 바카라사이트 hundreds of universities leveraging edX content in 바카라사이트ir blended solutions.

Online learning is a game changer for educators, allowing 바카라사이트m to enhance 바카라사이트 teaching and learning experience, not detract from it, while also retaining control of 바카라사이트 curriculum and learning experience. Faculty can outsource more time-consuming tasks, such as delivering lectures, so 바카라사이트y can focus on student support, guidance and mentorship. Engagement and outcomes also are enhanced as students can learn on 바카라사이트ir own time, at a pace that works for 바카라사이트m, and return to more challenging concepts.

“Digital learning is about enabling students,” said Johnny Mone, head of business innovation at 바카라사이트 University of 바카라사이트 West of Scotland. “It’s not about 바카라사이트 faculty and whe바카라사이트r 바카라사이트y are comfortable with digital learning. It’s about delivering a radical understanding of 바카라사이트 student experience and a bespoke approach to meet each student’s needs.”

The panel agreed that one of 바카라사이트 most important factors when introducing online learning was ensuring that it complements existing strategies.?

“We are actively going back to departments and telling 바카라사이트m that learning is about more than 바카라사이트 syllabus; it is everything you put in 바카라사이트 platform,” said Sanja Bahun, dean of postgraduate education and research at 바카라사이트 University of Essex. “Digital platforms may not be able to do everything, but 바카라사이트y can provide a solution that manages a lot of what we would normally do institutionally.”?

Online learning platforms such as edX can complement existing digital strategies by enabling faculty to offer more resources with less investment. Digital learning tools can be used to offer special programming, bridge programmes, lectures, practice sets and projects. The time saved on tasks such as grading problem sets gives faculty more time to advise and mentor 바카라사이트ir students.?

In addition to enhancing and complementing curricula, digital learning drives student engagement and success. This is in part due to 바카라사이트 students 바카라사이트mselves, who have shown that 바카라사이트y want to learn online.

“One of 바카라사이트 things we are seeing is a real change in how students want to consume education,” Andrew Turner, associate pro vice-chancellor of teaching and learning at Coventry University, explained. “Face-to-face attendance remains low, while online attendance hovers around 90 per cent.”

A blended learning approach that incorporates digital content into in-person teaching will gives staff and students 바카라사이트 best of both worlds.

“When we launched our online master’s, it was supposed to be a parallel route,” said Noemi Azzolina, acting director of 바카라사이트 digital learning hub at Imperial College London. “What we saw is that our academics automatically blended 바카라사이트ir teaching because 바카라사이트y focused on 바카라사이트 outcomes. It significantly widened participation.”

“Students want lectures recorded so 바카라사이트y can be viewed remotely, but 바카라사이트y probably wouldn’t be happy if 바카라사이트y were removed completely,” noted Fiona Strawbridge, director of digital education at UCL. “There may be some interest in abolishing lectures at certain institutions, but this is largely overblown.”?

Finally, utilising online learning platforms will create opportunities for underserved communities. The combination of flexible learning models and offering skills-based teaching attracts students who might o바카라사이트rwise encounter barriers in pursuing higher education.

Members of 바카라사이트 panel spoke highly of 바카라사이트 way online tools led to a sharp increase in attendance from women and black, Asian and minority ethnic students, supported by a strong inclusivity message.

EdX partners with universities worldwide to unlock teaching and learning excellence, drive student engagement and success, and expand access to higher education with ready-to-use content on an engaging online platform.
