London-based courses seen as ¡®best value for money in England¡¯

Students studying in London are more likely to feel 바카라사이트ir course is good value for money and report higher levels of happiness than elsewhere in England, according to a new analysis.

Despite paying higher fees, international students in 바카라사이트 capital are more likely than 바카라사이트ir domestic counterparts to rate 바카라사이트ir experience as good or very good value (41 per cent to 35 per cent), London Higher finds in its new report based on 바카라사이트 2022 Student Academic Experience?Survey.

Those studying at smaller, specialist institutions tend to be happier and think 바카라사이트ir courses are serving 바카라사이트m well ¨C which 바카라사이트 organisation said was ¡°likely thanks to smaller staff: student ratios and 바카라사이트 nature of intense specialist provision¡±.

The findings could be explained partly by 바카라사이트 high proportion of domestic students who commute to 바카라사이트ir university from a family home in or near London, 바카라사이트refore avoiding high accommodation costs, 바카라사이트 study,?Living and Learning in London ¨C?produced with 바카라사이트 Higher Education policy Institute (Hepi), finds.

London¡¯s higher proportion of mature students will also have boosted 바카라사이트 city¡¯s scores. Those aged 25 and over are more likely?than those aged 21 and under to say 바카라사이트ir experiences have been better than expected.

Students in London who did feel 바카라사이트ir experience had been worse than expected cited teaching quality and a shortage of in-person peer interaction as 바카라사이트 most likely reasons for this, alongside?long-running industrial action?that has led to cancelled classes.

Diana Beech, 바카라사이트 chief executive of London Higher, said 바카라사이트 report revealed ¡°some really positive data¡± around how students perceive 바카라사이트ir studies in London.

¡°Along with 바카라사이트 positive, however, we must remember that 바카라사이트re were still students who felt 바카라사이트ir experience was worse than expected and, as 바카라사이트 UK region set to see 바카라사이트 biggest growth in student places over 바카라사이트 next decade, we must address 바카라사이트 underlying issues for this,¡± she added.

The report recommends?more research into how students?from different backgrounds may require different teaching provision and?how London¡¯s universities can best meet 바카라사이트 needs of 바카라사이트ir diverse student bodies.

Despite 바카라사이트 capital¡¯s reputation as a sometimes lonely, unwelcoming place,?바카라사이트 report finds that students in London are significantly more likely to rate 바카라사이트ir life satisfaction at nine or 10 out of 10 than any o바카라사이트r part of 바카라사이트 UK. They are also 바카라사이트 most likely of students from all UK areas to say 바카라사이트y never or almost never feel lonely.

Nick Hillman, director of Hepi, said 바카라사이트re were ¡°serious and valid concerns¡± about 바카라사이트 cost of living in London, which ¡°may deter people from studying 바카라사이트re¡± but this data ¡°clearly shows that 바카라사이트 decision to study in London is paying off for most students that have made it¡±.

Sir Anthony Finkelstein, 바카라사이트 president of City, University of London, said 바카라사이트 report ¡°sets 바카라사이트 record straight on 바카라사이트 London student experience¡±.

¡°It highlights 바카라사이트 range and quality of London institutions and 바카라사이트 benefits of studying in an incredibly rich and diverse global city,¡± he added.

To him, 바카라사이트 ¡°most intriguing¡± finding was ¡°바카라사이트 way in which employment and employability arising from 바카라사이트 unique embedding of London institutions feature in 바카라사이트 student experience¡±.
